Nebraska has scored what, a few points in the interior? About time they spread the D and guard the 3. This reminds me of Tubby defense and I didn't like it then and don't like it now. Until Nebraska can prove they can score inside, guard them outside.

The Gophers appear to have little energy so far today. Better bring a lot of it in the second half or it's going to be a loss. I have a feeling Pitino won't let them sleepwalk through another half.

Mathieu needs to pass earlier when the double-team comes. Do what Oto did - as soon as the double-team starts coming, pass to the guy left wide open (in that case EE).

Some clueless guy earlier posted that EE shouldn't play in the second half because he's too "uncoordinated" leading to their 3's. That's about as moronic a statement as I've ever heard, considering his footwork and D in general is about 3 to 4 times faster/better than his replacement. If he wanted to argue that Mo is a better scorer, that would be a worthwhile argument. But claiming that Mo would guard the 3 better is simply naieve.

Mo is probably the better offensive player, but EE is definitely one of the top defending centers in the Big Ten. I don't expect a 7 footer to be able to stay step for step with a 3 point shooting guard/forward.
 

In the absence of Smith.......I don't know where we would have found our offense. I hate to dog on Mav......but he did absolutely nothing in the minutes he played. We need DeAndre in the game.

The guards need to do a better job defending the 3. If EE's man wants to take a well-defended corner 3, let him. Bet he can't do it twice.

I would agree, but I think DeAndre had 4 turnovers in the first 5 minutes or so. Hopefully he can snap out of it.

Sorry, that's my fault. I complimented Mav after last game, therefore I should have known the karma that would cause.

Agreed. Again, all he has to do is pass before the double-team arrives. If two guys are guarding him outside the arc, it's 4-on-3 closer to the bucket.

I'd be way more worried if they were missing and getting frustrated themselves, causing the rest of their game to suffer. I don't think how they react after a miss shows more or less how much they care. The one thing I've noticed about this team compared to years past is how leveled headed they are. No reason to change that now.

Yeah, he looked awful out of the gate. Its not like we were getting a good performance out of him until the fouls sat him down. Hopefully he has a better half.

EE is great at defending the post. His assignment for tonight requires him to step out and defend the perimeter. He shouldn't be expected to, but he's not capable of doing that. Therefore it's just not a good night to play him a ton. I'd rather have one of the PFs play the center spot in the second half.

I think he's referring to Nebraska draining the three at the buzzer, not the game as a whole. As I recall, our opponents hit a three at the end of the half on four different occasions last season. Duke, Michigan State, Illinois, and one other, can't think of who it was.

That's because of his presence. He's offering absolutely nothing on O but just having him on the court on D is important.

Just not our night. We knew a let down would happen eventually. Just have to fight through this.

*3 Yeah, we need Elliot to get out of this funk for the Northwestern game. 2 losses in a row is a something we can't afford to do.
