Game #2: Gophers v. Montana (11/12, All-Access, 7:00PM)

The play-by-play guy has done these BTN studentU games for the last 4 or 5 years and he has gotten significantly better every single year. He was brutal his first year though, I remember he would use the word "corral" for every single rebound. It was actually funny to listen to.

Ya think he didn't learn? That is what experience does for a guy.

I hear you Don stat wise it looks fine. But this is a not a big team we're playing and boxing out and rebounding from our "bigs" other that Elliot is suspect. It'll be ugly come big ten season.

You don't know that as a fact, Tater. Time will tell. A lot has to do with the bounce of the ball off three pointers.

Why would they say this is a better line up for running the floor? Dre Mathieu obviously helps, but we lost Rodney and Mbakwe.

That is correct, Gold Vision. So let them go, and let's move on.

Lol knocked the wind out of him? He got elbowed in the nuts.

OOOOOOOO that hurts to get one in the Johns.

and the basketball gods strike again. Oto, you're having a good game? here's a nut shot. you're welcome

Another thing I don't like about Malik having the green light at all times is that he has a very slow and awkward release.

Huh? What are you talking about, move on from what?

You brought up Mbakwe and Rodney, not me.

What is going on here, do you say something and then not remember it? OK, I've done that before too..

I don't get your point. He made a comparison to last year's team, and you're getting on his case about it? What was heinous about his statement?

Wisconsin looks like they could be pretty tough this year. I hope Austin will be able to slow Dekker down when we play them, he is looking really, really good.

We are talking the same thing guys. Mbakwe and Rodney are gone. This is a new team with a new Coach. Let's look and talk ahead, not back. And I will be honest, guys, Rodney Williams was a disappointment, to me.

Why even bother bringing that up if we're looking forward?

Mathieu has completely shattered my expectations so far. What a great addition.

Lol.

Gotta say I'm pretty impressed tonight. Offense has looked fantastic.

Now that the game is about over, I want to be the Williams Arena floor and let the dance team practice doing their splits on me. :)

Hey folks, check out the next 'flight departure' scheduled for Friday I just posted.

Really, you are advertising a thread you started in another thread? And it's not even news, we've been discussing that for a while now in the Tyus thread...

I'm cautiously thinking that a starting lineup of Little Dre, Big Dre, Austin, Oto, and EE can hold steady as a middle of the pack Big Ten team. We don't have a ton of depth beyond them (save King and Mo, hopefully), but I think we can ride those guys to a better-than-expected season.

Agreed, I just want t be competitive in the B1G and at least be on the bubble with a chance to hear our name on selection sunday.

EXTREMELY optimistic after watching this game...
Little Dre- Fastest player I've ever seen, love his passing and driving ability.

Dre- Spectacular, hopefully these games will be the usual for him this year.

Austin- Had 10 rebounds tonight... Will help fill Mo's hole A LOT if he can do that consistently.

Oto- Best game in a gopher uniform, in my opinion (Point total wasn't very high, but hit 2-2 threes, had 6 boards, a steal, and 0 turnovers).

EE- 5 BLOCKS! WOO HOO! And 4 of his 8 boards were offensive...

King- I'd like to think that his 'average' game will be somewhere between tonight and the lehigh game...

Ahanmisi- Seriously expected him to play more!

Smith- I reallllyyyy hope he can find his 3 pt stroke... I think he can be a huge contributor if he does.

McNeil- 3 fouls in very limited PT, which doesn't help his case... wish we would've Redshirted him! Can we still?

Buggs- Lovin' that bank 3... On a more serious note, I really think he should be playing more! I think he would impress!

Wally- Had a nice 3, a couple boards... hopefully he's out of the doghouse!!

Shell- Amazing as always!

Mo- Stop smoking pot

Reid- I'm crying right now

Rashad- We need you

Tyus- ...

Martin, Mason, Morris- I love you

Please learn how to use spacing, periods, and complete sentences. It would be a lot easier to read your posts.

Malik Smith needs to improve, in the next couple of weeks. EE still can't make more than 50% of his FT's. The press was impressive. Austin and Andre will have to carry this team. Deandre is a MAJOR improvement at the point. Should be an interesting year, but I doubt that they will be in the NCAA/March Madness unless they find a way to rebound on both ends of the court.
