Kinda happy it's half time so Malik can't chuck up a couple more ill-advised shots. This is where the coaches step in, analyze the shot, show what made it work, make him understand why it worked, and put some confidence in the kid. I mean, if he's going to be playing (all signs are that he will get significant minutes), he's going to be shooting, and we need more of what we just saw
 


Does Eliason really have 5 blocks at the half? Wow.

EDIT: I notice he also has 2 steals.
 



Gophers up 40 to 26 at half vs. Montana

Wally played a bit. Mathieu looks solid running the point. King with 0 rebounds. We finished the half with Mathieu, Wally, King, Smith and Maverick. We look like we'll cause havoc with team with lesser guards but will struggle mightily rebounding if this game is any indication for the season.
 

I know Elliott has not made any yet tonight, but I like how he is working on his hook shot. Keep practicing that baby, and it will win us some games.
 

We are out rebounding Montana 21-15 man. If you are looking for total rebounding domination by us, it ain't gonna happen, just the fact that we get key rebounds is so important.

He's shot 3 times in the game if you don't count the half-court heave. I think we should take a deep breath before losing our heads here.

Couldn't agree more. Perfect situation for him to practice that shot. We will need him to be able to have some sort of inside presence in the big ten.

We are out rebounding them and have 7 first half offensive boards. Odd time to make this statement based on one player's half time box score.
 


I hear you Don stat wise it looks fine. But this is a not a big team we're playing and boxing out and rebounding from our "bigs" other that Elliot is suspect. It'll be ugly come big ten season.
 

EE is going to be huge for our defense this year, hopefully he can avoid foul trouble. We are going to need a rim protector with all of our guards trapping and recovering in the press.
 

King and Oto may not be big athletic guys like Mbakwe, but they are very skilled and do a lot of the small things very well.
 

Really happy for Oto - seems like he's finally putting it together. I know it's just non-conference, but he was just plain awful last year.
 


I love watching the other team commit stupid turnovers against our press. It reminds me of when we were trying to play Hoffarber at PG, except we're the team benefiting from the lack of ball handlers.
 

I'm not sure who these announcers are doing this game, but I feel as amateurs, they are doing a great job
 


What I am enjoying about the pressure D is when the ball gets to the second line, the guys hustle and beat the ball to the next level. This is going to be fun to watch all year, gang.

The play-by-play guy has done these BTN studentU games for the last 4 or 5 years and he has gotten significantly better every single year. He was brutal his first year though, I remember he would use the word "corral" for every single rebound. It was actually funny to listen to.
