GAME #19: Gophers (14-4, 3-2) @ #14/16 Iowa (14-3, 3-1) [BTN, 1/19, Noon]

Iowa fans are over on their board complaining about the refs. I bet no one could've guessed that!

In English?

Yeah, that was a weird call. I swear he stopped counting for a second only to call 5 seconds moments later.

I think he was borderline on calling it. I don't have great depth of knowledge of the rules for basketball, so I was fine with it, though it sounds like it may have been a weak call according to others here.

I don't think they count out loud, an if they do, they're not shouting it - probably couldn't hear it a foot away if it's loud at all.

I thought it was a reasonable half of calls, but my team is winning on the road, so I'm probably bias. I can think of a few calls that we got that I was shocked we got, so yeah, from their perspective, I can see them being mad about it.

I just thought the separation that occurred when Hollins faked taking the ball to the hole was enough to restart the count. Usually it does. I'm guessing Hollins thought the same thing.

There were a couple calls that the refs made that were correct calls that any home crowd would protest. Throughout, I think I heard the crowd react poorly to calls against Iowa as I did for calls against the Gophers, so it's probably close to equal.

Mo Walker must have flipped a switch. He looks great.

Well they should stop complaining now. One of our better players picked up his 3rd foul for breathing on a guy. Then Austin Hollins got run over on a 3 and no call.

Agreed - to play devil's advocate, he caused separation just to pull back, so he never really made a move to the basket.

That was a brutal and-1 call, he barely made any contact, let alone enough to make a call on. It's easy to get And-1s if you're hardly impeded.

Letting them up off the mat with the 8-0 run was a killer. Game over.

That wasn't bad D, those were deep, good shots.

This game is over if Eliason can't see the court. Mo has been playing pretty well of late compared to earlier in the season (and his career, for that matter), but he still lags EE greatly in defensive, rebounding, and ball movement. For better or worse, EE actually deserved his 3 fouls today.

Malik needs to get going... Correction: someone needs to penetrate and kick to a wide open Malik so he can get going.

Edit: Nevermind

That's just terrible luck when Iowa either swishes the 3 or airballs it right to a teammate. Gawwwd.

I like how they're responding, getting some buckets to ease the tide. I think we'll be okay as long as they stay patient and take good shots.

Stay the course. Get mo a breather soon with a quick injection of EE and hope he stays out of foul trouble... Hope Malik gets hot.
