For those inclined to fret about Gophers' chances on Selection Sunday?

What I don't understand is how all of the experts have the gophers nowhere near the bubble, not even on there last four in, and yet some people continue to discredit these people and say they are wrong even though it is those people's jobs to know and understand these things

9th place in the B1G? LOL where did that come from....they tied for 7th...how did you get 9th place. If there would have been a 5 way tie for the title would we have had no one finishing in the top 4 in the B1G this year. Good grief...quite being such a goof ball.

I think part of the problem is that some of us here (myself included) have a very biased "Eye Test" that the Gophers have failed which puts them on the bubble when an analyst who hasn't watched this team night in and night out will look at it more analytically and have them in the tourney without question. It's an emotional response to a disappointing end of the regular season. I also believe they will make the tourney, but can understand why those who have watched closely would think there's a chance they might be excluded tomorrow.

Yes, but have you closely watched all of the other bubble teams? I'm sure they have their fair share of problems, and when it comes down to it.......it's all about entire body of work.

DD, was Bob Seager's song "Against the Wind" really the edited version of "Pissing Against the Wind?"

At this point in the season, I am just grateful our loyal fans still have a chant or two of "Iowa sucks" in them.

No, and that's my point...we have a biased "Eye Test" when it comes to the Gophers...I'm sure fans of all the other bubble teams have their own impression of their teams, warts and all, as well.

Perhaps we just need a neutral Board Psychiatrist to analyze the collective win v Mutiny on the Bounty psyche.

Seriously, does this Gopher team have any resilience, show some post traumatic growth, and if not, why not?

We will find out in the tournament.

Bubble? Everybody is showing the Gophers in. Lock after Iowa lost.

Despite the biased 'eye test', almost every respected bracketologist has the Gophers as a lock. Many people here are simply pulling at straws, trying to figure a reason why they shouldn't be invited. The bracketologists know, not the doubters on this site.

Yeah, I think the Gophers are a lock as well.

Yeah, I think the Gophers are a lock as well.

Generally this board thinks the so called "experts" have no idea what they are talking about when in comes to Minnesota whether it be their predictions for the football or basketball teams. The experts usually don't rate the Gophers as high as the fans think they should.

Now that the "experts" agree with what the fans want these experts are viewed quite different.

What was their seed in the tournament? You can claim a tie for 7th all you want, but we played as the 9th placed team in the tournament, which is exactly where we deserved to be placed. There is such a thing as tie breakers and the Gophers played themselves into 9th place via the tie breakers. That's just the facts.

tinyarch and moses, your entire vendettas in several threads are and have been, "I hope the Gophers lose so we can get rid of Tubby." You are not fans, you are an anti-Tubby. Pure and simple. Stop pissing into the wind and telling us it warms you up.

Not I hope the Gophers lose. But, yes I hope Tubby is gone after this season. What that totals is that we want the best for the Gopher program in its entirety. The fact that you are short sighted like Mr. Magoo is not my problem.

I think they get in but whatever the seed is, I think the committee rewards them for there steller performance since mid January, probably an impossible first roung matchup and a suicide bracket.

No doubt. If they don't leave the Gophers out to send a message to all other teams, they'll at least schedule 1/4 of the bracket around giving us a 'suicide' draw. We're that important, dontcha know?

Gophers down to 34th in the latest realtimeRPI - Getting dicier. Could fall to as low as 36th by night's end.

If Akron loses to Ohio and if Vandy steal a bid by winning the SEC the Gophers in the mix for a snub.

Dude....that's asinine! They're easily in.

Exactly! Why don't any of these complete *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!# for brains understand that?

On a game by game basis, I still want the Gophers to win....but I know we are better off in the long haul by losing as much as possible now to ensure Tubby's ouster.

I tried tell you guys he was a terrible coach 2 years ago and I got banned...Now everybody agrees with me. I tried to spare us these last 2 seasons of ugly basketball and frustrations.

As a Doctor with a PhD, Don should know I was just trying to help Gopher fans stave off hypertension and heart attacks.

You make so many boneheaded comments on this board that one day you will eventually be right.

If Akron loses and IF Vandy wins the SEC, the committee are going to have to re-look at the at-large bids. Bobinski just said on CBS that RPI is nothing more than a guide.

Historically, there have been dozens of teams in the 30's RPI who get snubbed. It will no longer be a big deal if we get snubbed.

One thing I do know...NOBODY has ever receieved an At-Large bid playing as bas as the Gophers are now. NOBODY! 5-11 baby!

If the committee wants to set a precedence by taking a 5-11 at large team, I will be shocked.

And....another boneheaded post. They're pretty much a lock....watch some games today. Nobody has them close to the bubble except you.

Prove it. Go through every at large team ever and prove it.

Why is this fool posting here? Get rid of him.

Cripes, what a thoroughly awful take. Has to be trolling at this point. Just HAS to be.

IF YOU FEEL THE GOPHERS ARE ANYWHERE NEAR THE BUBBLE:
1. please re-read the first post in this thread
2. If you STILL feel the Gophers are ANYWHERE near the bubble, repeat step 1

What is troubling to me for selection is the 5-11 record of late.

Tubby also has the worst record in the Big Ten the second half of the conference season over the last 6 years-and I know that is not a selection metric, just a very bad stat. (Tied with NW at 19-35.).

I don't pay attention to all the selection metrics, but doesn't the Big Ten conference play as a whole this year help Minnesota?

the 5-11 doesn't matter. No sure why people like to fret about criteria that doesn't exist.

Didn't it use to be one of the criteria that they used? I seem to remember that as of a few years ago, that how a team finished the season, their last 10 games, was taken into consideration.
