I was (realistically or not) hoping for a better result - such a non competitive result is another example that this program is not advancing the needle - the loss to Cal also - don’t know where we go from here but another below average season feels like is upon us
 



I'm fine with the messaging. Wanted to see a lower scoring game, but based on the talent disparity, our performance was pretty much in line with everyone else who's played them. If you think the coaches mailed in the game or failed the players and they could've done better, etc, you've got unrealistic expectations and may be delusional.

There's no point in losing to injury a freshman qb who could be the linchpin of your team for the next four years trying to prove a point against a team you have no business being on the field with. The next four games are where the rubber meets the road.
 

This is the type of messaging I would expect to see from an FCS team's head coach after losing to Ohio State.

The most depressing thing is that so many gophers fans are fine with our head coaching talking about moral victories and having a "at least both teams had fun" attitude.

Correct. And it's not just Ohio State. He's done it against Michigan and PSU too, and he's probably going to do it against Oregon. He basically had his team stand in the corner of the ring and covered their head while waiting for the bell to ring. They were never going to win that game, but if you're going down, go down swinging.

So you'll take 63-3 with our qb having numerous picks and possibly a concussion because "gosh darn it we went down swinging?" We don't need to put any of our players at unnecessary risk and prevent them from playing in the games that matter and we can win (Iowa/Wisconsin/Nebraska) trying to prove a point against an all world team we don't belong on the field with, particularly this year. The #1 most important thing for the team this season is to develop Drake and build his confidence for seasons to come. Him getting flayed by OSU in the Shoe with a team lacking the talent to hold up doesn't do that and risks a regression.

Listen, two good coaches playing a game, one has a $35MM roster the other a $3-5MM roster, the out come should be 42 - 3, if not worse.

You want to be competitive with these teams, we need to spend the NIL $ before we can fairly evaluate PJ.

Cal, that’s another story, yeah that was disappointing and all on PJ.

Then us fans need to pay $35MM in NIL money. No sense in crying about PJ if the fans won’t be competitive in “giving” to NIL.

To expect a different outcome come until we match NIL is counting on OhSt’s coach being utterly incompetent.

If the most important thing is keeping the QB from getting hurt, he probably has no business being on the field down 40 points late, late in the 4th quarter.

Should have been 42-3 if not worse? 42-3 was worse than Ohio, Washington, and Texas (who may be nowhere near as good as advertised) played them. Only grambling state had a worse showing than us. Being upset that we lost is unreasonable. Being upset that we looked as bad as we did is fair.

Do you honestly think Drake will be here for 4 years when a winning program will be calling?

Who needs turnovers when you score touchdowns on 6 of your 9 possessions (not counting the final one with one play) and limit your opponent to 162 yards?

Definitely can't take anything for granted. That being said....

We are in significantly better shape than Wisconsin.....We are 3-2, 1-1 in conference with a very manageable remaining Big Ten Schedule.

They are 2-3, 0-2 in the Big Ten and their next 3 Big Ten games are Iowa, Ohio State and Oregon. They also face Illinois and Indiana before they play us. If they don't beat Iowa or Washington in Camp Randall there is a chance they go 0-9 in Big Ten play this year and even getting to a bowl game feels like a pretty massive long shot this year given how they have looked so far.

Yes, I know about their schedule vs. ours but that's no guarantee of beating them head-to-head and, at this point, I'm far from certain that we'll get the 3 more wins to be bowl eligible. Schadenfreude against Wisconsin's misery isn't enough comfort for me.

Exactly where I am at with the game. Still feel 8-4 is very doable, 9-3 with some luck on Gophs side. If Gophs end up 6-6 or 7-5, Fleck's seat needs to be very warm and Coyle should do what Indiana did, hire a successful G-6 coach who will bring his best 10-12 players with him. Right now I would be eyeing Ryan Silverfield. On his way to a third consecutive 10 or more win season at Memphis. I would be looking at Navy's HC as well.

Before the game yesterday I felt we had 6 remaining winnable Big Ten games and 2 nearly certain loses on our schedule. Nothing that happened last night has changed that outlook for me.

People have a tendancy to overreact to one game. Oregon is the only team on our schedule that will be anything even slightly close to Ohio State. We can compete just fine with everyone else.

They were extremely aggressive in the first half throwing the ball and went for it on a critical early 4th down. How is that playing covering their head?

We lost....so for some it means we will never win again....doesn't matter that we lost to the #1 team in the country and a National Title favorite.

That said....I don't think it is half the board....just the usual suspects who are only happy when they are complaining.
