Two plays we coudn't adjust to...

the slant pass, and the quarterback keeping on a roll out....oh wait the 8 man rush aganst a screen too......folks we know now why Kevin Cosgrove was so available, this looked very much like the Nebraska teams he coached.

I generally don't jump on the "fire him" bandwagon after one of these hiccup games, but it is clear to me that Brewster is NOT the coach to bring this program into the light. I question if we will ever win a Big Ten championship (particularly with Nebraska in the fold now), but at least I should be able to expect some wins over what is a consensus inferior opponent. The boys are use to rotating coaches, lets rotate out the head coach this time.
 


What is the precedent for removing coaches mid-season?

This is just embarrassing. I'm supposed to go to a family function today, but I don't know if I can face my Gopher hating step-father. This is insane. I feel like I'm living in a nightmare.
 

He needs to be fired yesterday. Every day we wait is too late.

I supported Brewster until the end of last season, when he continued to fail to make adjustments and to make the decisions that a coach needs to do both before gameday and particularly during the game. His recruiting has not been very good the past 2 years either. The program is in reverse.

Two losses at home to FCS schools within 4 years. ROFL. We are THE joke of BCS football programs. MAJOR changes need to occur. Right now.

P.S. while we're at it, we can clean house in the Purple head coaching position as well.
 


This is a complete embarrassment. I was one saying we need to bide our time with him, but I am done with this crap now. Fire him today, right now, I can't stand to even see his face any more. I want to burn the rest of my season tickets because of this moron. I am sooooooo pissed, shamed, and tired. Fire him today!!!!!!!!!!
 


This nightmare is 40+ years and counting. The trolls have every right to laugh at us and this team. We have done nothing to not deserve it.
 

It's pretty unprecedented to fire a coach 2 games into a season, but if ever circumstances warranted it, this does. That said, there is almost no chance Maturi will do it. Worse yet, I still think it's no better then 50/50 he'll do it at all. And if he does it will likely be mid-December before he makes up his mind.

Far better would be for Bruinicks to fire them both tomorrow.
 



Bucky, of course you voted no. Why would you want a change? Wisky chalks this up as an automatic win with Brew!

One of the worst losses in recent history - worse than the NDSU game in my opinion. Today we set the program back at least 5 years. Time to hire Bob Neilson from UMD!
 

no discipline on defense, the ends and outside linbackers didn't stay at home even once even though the bootlegs were murdering us. Worst coached defense ever.

Fire Brewster, or at the very least Cosgrove....now. Our second string should've been able to blow these guys out, Brewster clearly is no recruiting genius. The stint is over IMO.
 



Brewster may be gone at the end of the year but there is a lot of football to be played.

The calls to fire Maturi are ridiculous. The overall athletic department is in a much better place now then it was when he came in, plus with Bruininks retiring we don't need more turnover at the major leadership positions at the university.
 

The 'Fire Brewster' chants were nice, but I would prefer a 'Tooooon-nee Dunnnn-gee' chant.

Dungy's not going to coach college football. He was pretty adamant about that just the other day on the Dan Patrick show.
 


Brewster will be fired. We're going to be bleeding fans. Firing Brewster will help stops the bleeding. Maturi took a gamble on Brewster, it didn't pay off. I gave him a chance, but after two losses to I-AA teams, it's time. Hire someone who knows how to coach the essentials. It's not going to be easy to find an established coach. Perhaps we should hire a coach from the I-AA level, but we need to get one who coaches fundamentals, not gimmicks.

I don't think Dungy will coach the Gophers, but I would love to see him take a LEAD role in hiring the next coach. I can't believe anyone would defend Maturi at this point- he's been here 8 years waiting too long to fire Mason and Monson publicly botched an attempted Monson firing and screwed up a football hire that he had years to think about. Those are the sports that matter, and we haven't finished as high as 3rd place in our own conference in either during his tenure.
 

I like the guy... besides... he finally has all his recruits now instead of that empty cupboard Mason left. Isn't that what everyone wanted?

Pete, I gave Brew time and did not criticize. However, I now see the regressive pattern in the quality of play from the University of Minnesota. Coach Brewster is responsible for that. I will not look back and do anything different, however, due to what I now see, it is time. Trestman??? Not an F'ing clue.
 

For the hell of it I e-mailed Maturi saying he should fire Brewster and hire Leach. He just responded with:

"Tough day for all Gopher fans – no arguments from me."

How sad is it that he probably has "Tough day for all Gopher fans" saved, so he just has a quick click of the mouse for all the disappointments and embarrassments of the last 8 years?
 

I stood up for Brewster over the last 4 years. Today's game was the straw that broke the camel's back. So long Brew! I'm sure he'll be gone at the end of the season unless he goes 6-2 in the big ten (good luck).
 

I voted no. I think you need to wait until the end of the year. What if he wins 5 straight now...

USC, PSU, OSU, Iowa, Wisc = definite losses.

Pur, NW, NI, Ill, MSU = toss up.

If we win half the toss up games we come out with 3-4 wins on the year. That in itself should mean termination of Brewster's employment.
