Fantasy Sports Talk

For my Survival Pool, I'm saving TB for one (1) of their upcoming games with CAR. Instead, I'm rolling the dice again this week with another marginal team that plays in your backyard.

Even with CAR's switch to the Red Rifle, I'm going with the Porn Stache and LV. I think Adams, Bowers and even Zamir White eat this week from a Fantasy standpoint.

If your Raiders send me packing, I've made arrangements for your Vegas makeover, my friend:

Ouch. I was there yesterday, wearing a Raiders jersey but privately cheering for Carolina to knock out another 515 entries in Circa Survivor. I enjoyed it, I have to say.

Holy shit, another blood bath in Circa Survivor. Started with 14,266 entries and they are down to only 1,630 remaining (roughly), with two games still left tonight. That is just plain nuts, 88% of the entries eliminated already.

I put the life of one of my entries in the hands of Deshaun Watson, which upsets me greatly. Even against Daniel Jones, that was not the smartest move. Although I would have went with Tampa instead, and they lost also.

If the Bengals take care of business tonight, I'll have two entries remaining; if the Bengals lose, I'll be down to 1 entry, but another 988 entries will be eliminated. That is just ridiculous after only 3 weeks.

Looking at a terrible year in my football league. It's still early and it's only an 8 team league so there's always people to pick up but even so my receivers are disaster.

I'm trying to remember a time in recent years where in one single week it felt like there were 3 solid options (Raiders, Bucs, Browns) this early in the season that all lost in the same week.

Having one of those lose is to be expected, but all 3? Wow

That's what I get for trusting Porn Stache but what the heck happened to Antonio's defense? MIA should trade for Dalton immediately.

My streak of never seeing Week 7 in a Survivor Pool was very safe this year. I really should've lost Week 1 with CHI.

If you need free stock tips or betting advice, I'm always available.

You're not alone. The average team score in my 10-team Auction League last year was 118 points. This year it's at 101 so far. The injuries and underperforming high picks have been catastrophic for most teams.

Anthony Richardson is just killing me in a couple of leagues when undrafted guys like Darnold are tearing it up.

The incredible myth that the Raiders have a great/good defense is one of the more interesting phenomenons I've ever seen. DC Patrick Graham certainly has a very powerful marketing and PR campaign working on his behalf, probably including the "worldwide leader", among others.

To close last season under Graham and Pierce's watch, the Raiders defense feasted on the likes of Tommy DeVito, Easton Stick, Jarrett Stidham, Josh Dobbs, Gardner Minshew, Zach Wilson, et al. They played I believe the 2nd most defensive snaps last season against backup and 3rd string QBs. So they entered the season making people think they were an elite defense.

But don't you dare criticize Graham. No bueno.

I have one entry left in Circa Survivor; one of just 642 (I think?) remaining. Over 95% of the original entries have been dumped in 3 weeks. What in the actual f*ck...

I went down with the Bengals and Browns, but my fallback would have been the Bucs anyway, so I can't bitch too much. I'm just lucky I went with Aaron Rodgers last Thursday night.

Survive and advance!

I'm 0-6 in my main auction league (we play a 2nd game each week against the median). I was close to winning in week 2 but week 1 and 3 have been blowout city. I got CMC and then loaded up on WRs ranked in the 10-25 range. It has not gone well.

Tayson Hill vulturing two touchdowns today. Dude is seriously one of the most destructive forces in the history of fantasy

Managed to survive and advance in Circa Survivor. Had to take the "easy" way out this week and go with the 49ers, and don't feel guilty about it one bit. It was the best week of the season to use the 49ers so I went with it.

Another 160+ people not so lucky though; the Broncos beating Rodgers and the Jets took care of most of those.

14,266 entries to start and it's already down to roughly 480 remaining. That's just nuts....

What are the payouts in that thing? I look forward to following you from here on out since I was eliminated early this season.

I acquired 10% equity of Ogee's Survivor Pool stock so I will be living vicariously through him the rest of the season.

Winner take all. $14,266,000.00 No prizes for finishing in 2nd or 3rd place or whatever. My first time trying this, it's interesting as hell. I'm not really busy at work so I figured I would have time to over-analyze the living shit out of it so Yes, I'm consuming a ridiculous amount of information and data.

I think last year the pot was like $9.2M and four guys made it through all 20 weeks unscathed (I mentioned earlier they are trying to weed out more people by counting Thanksgiving/Black Friday as a separate week and the Christmas games as a separate week). They all got $2.3M or whatever.

I could always use some help in the corner, a good cut man

Nice! Sorry if I missed have you decided on this weeks pick?

I haven't decided yet. Still looking at some injury reports. Seattle will be the popular pick, playing at home against the Giants. I usually try to avoid picking the team that everyone will be picking. One site that projects this stuff (the Circa pool doesn't always mirror it though) projects 33% of people picking Seattle.

I'm kinda in between Jacksonville over the Colts; or Chicago over Carolina. Not overly excited about betting my life on Trevor Lawrence (and Doug Pedersen) or Caleb Williams. But I expect both of those home teams to play better than they have in recent weeks. Jax actually gave Houston everything they wanted last week.

I thought about Washington over the Browns, but we'll see. The Browns have been missing both bookend Tackles, Conklin and Wills. Imagine the Vikings playing with backups and suddenly getting O'Neill and Darrisaw back. It's about that impactful for the Browns as Conklin and Wills are very, very good OT's. Surprisingly, Washington is projected to be a very popular pick also, but again, that isn't always reflected in what the folks in Circa do.

This is a screen shot of the site I look at for some of this shit. I sorted for this shot by "Popularity":

Week 5.jpg

This other page is one that I use to kind of look down the road. The percentages listed are the percent chance that team has of winning that week, roughly anyway. I use this to look down the road to see what week COULD be best for each team. Apologies for the shitty images, it was merely taking a picture of the laptop screen with my phone. Enough to get the idea of it anyway.

Mother f*cking Seattle....

I was going to pick Chicago (or Washington, or Jax, or even Denver, who ALL won) but when I looked at the numbers and thought that there actually wouldn't be that many people in my pool picking Seattle, because a lot must have picked them in Week 1, I changed to Seattle.

And to top it off, Seattle ended up being the most picked team in my pool anyway.

Another bloodbath in Circa Survivor, down to an incredible 221 entries I think, out of the original 14,266 after just 5 weeks.

I think I'll do it again next year, it was fun and I enjoyed the strategy behind it and the data analysis and information gathering.

My only consolation was that my Cardinals knocked off the 49ers and eliminated the 2nd most people in the pool.

Sorry to hear Ogee, I was enjoying following along.

My fantasy football team sucks ass
It's been a weird season with all the injuries and scoring anomalies. Here's an example from one (1) of my leagues:

Points Scored:
Team A - 1,029 (most scored)
Team B - 786 (least scored)

Points Scored Against:
Team A - 1,065 (most against)
Team B - 723 (least against)

Overall Record:
Team A: 2 - 6
Team B: 6 - 2

Yikes, that sucks. We added the second game against the median score each week and that helps prevent some of this.

I'm in last place because I deserve to be there. I never go big money on RBs but I did this year with CMC and that crushed me. Olave and Moore have sucked at WR. And I was big on Kincaid thinking he'd have a big year but he's been terrible too. Pretty much every "sleeper" and "breakout" guy I picked have been duds.

The interesting thing about this year is the resurgence of the RBs. In recent years, it's been the WRs that have dominated as the top scorers. With our scoring, 8 of the top 13 W/R/T are RBs this year so far.

In my big money League, we changed our qualifying rules for the Playoffs this season. Both Division Winners, based on Won-Loss Record, get the #1 Seeds and a BYE.

The other four (4) Playoff qualifiers are the teams in either Division with the most Total Points Scored regardless of their record.

The thought being that if you score a lot points for the entire year:

1. You probably did decent job in the Auction (or Draft if people still use that format).

2. You probably made prudent Waiver moves, trades and use of your FAB during the season.

3. You probably maximized your points by starting your best roster every week.

I like the Median score option you have, too. It really lowers the "luck" factor in a League.

CMC destroyed Owners that didn't handcuff him late with Mason. I almost always go WR heavy but this year, the Auction cost for RB's was really low.

I ended up with Mixon, Henry and Achane for only $96 of my $200 budget while the Top 8-9 WRs went for an average of $57 each.

Of course, I wasted my money on the likes of Richardson and Olave, too. I'm batting about .250 when trying to decide between two (2) Flex players every week.

That's not a bad way to do it too.

You cashed in on your RBs, especially for that price. Nice.

The only guys I can say were even marginal wins for me were Burrow and Flowers. And Flowers hasn't even been that great. I just got him pretty cheap for some reason.
Going in to my Auctions, I had Kincaid rated as my #1 TE, Richardson as my #3 QB and MHJ as my #11 WR.

I was outbid on all of them...and disappointed when I was. I was 100% confident that all three (3) of those guys would be Fantasy monsters this year.
