Dawson Garcia returning

Update. This from a very, very reliable source:

There was a meeting which included the team, coaches, Coyle.
Shortly after the meeting started, Garcia stood up, handed the ball he was holding to a student manager, then walked quietly to the front and told Coyle that he had something to say. Coyle told him he better say what he had to say. Garcia faced the room and said he reckoned it was time for him to start playing ball for a 6th year. However there was just one thing, "Coach stays, I play. Coach goes, I go!"
Pandemonium! Bedlam!
Coyle tried to quiet the room.
Then suddenly someone called for a re-vote.
Realizing he was the only voter, Coyle ripped up his prepared speech and announced, "COACH STAYS."

Ben is back!
Who your Mother?

well, OP here, I don’t care at all if you guys believe me, but yeah Dawson’s coming back. No argument about it, no trolling.
Look, I don't buy it but if you are going to double down can you at least elaborate on how it would even be possible for Dawson to play another year? Because even as messed up as the current eligibility rules are these days I don't see a way he would qualify for another year.

Player-coach rule of 1965. This allows a person to still play while being the head coach. At least that is what I just made up.

Just posted this in another thread- comparing Garica situation to Tonje of Wisky:

Tonje was also a Niko recruit and stayed and developed at CSU for 4 years.
I thought you were wrong about this but, you are exactly right! 4 years at CSU, 1 at Missouri and now the BADgers. This is interesting and actually gives some steam to the bizarre "Garcia is back for a 6th rumor"! Tonje played 8 games last year for Missouri (including wrecking us) and had 5 years averaging 30 games per year. The guy has played in a whopping 159 games and counting.

Garcia played 16 games in the NC year.... seems to be too many but....

Marquette under WOJO is going to retroactively be declared a JUCO.

For what's worth, there are similar rumors floating around about Luke Goode at Indiana going after another season of eligibility. Like Garcia, for the potential season at issue, he played in over 30% of the games and played during the second half of the season. His situation is much closer to Garcia (played in 30.3% of games) and did not also have a COVID year.

I'm not sure if the rules mean anything anymore.

This isn’t about believing you.

It whether or not you know the rules of college basketball, which apparently you do not.

You are not a troll, just an idiot

I agree with you, 100% that it is really clear with the rules.

However, are you 100% certain the rules still apply? I'm not just saying this because it's the Gophers, I just can't feel very confident that I know how the NCAA is going to come down on any decision anymore. It's not because I don't know the rules, it just doesn't seem like they matter (at times) any more.

Man if this is true I need to dig my sneakers out of the basement. Anyone know what the going rate is for a 6 ft power forward in his mid 50s?
You would only owe us 250k, so not bad.

However, that is the bottom rate for everyone, So say you have a 401K, house, etc we will then negotiate a higher rate based on assets and the ATSGopher scale.

Its like the Jimmy Johnson NFL trade value chart, but modifed for old people that want the full experience. We have 2 slots avaiable every year. 15 slots minues these 2. All proceeds go to NIL.

Hopefully, ypur inspiring and I can Chant play “bmb5270, clap, clap…. Clap, clap, clap.” During blowouts.

Sorry I had a better offer of a free beer.

Goode graduated in 3 years at Illinois, then one year at IU. He is trying to get a 5th year, not a sixth.

I don’t think Goode has a case. The 30% rule is injury at the beginning of a season. Goode was out then came back for the last third of the season.

Hard to imagine that Garcia would have another year, but if he did it seems he might want to cash in somewhere.

Tonje isn’t remotely the same as Dawson
He played 6 years. I'm not saying Garcia can return- but the situations are comparable.

Did you start Hoosiers at about 9:30 last night?

Hmmm, Are you sure?

@PeterMac05 has scooped things in the past that no one else knew, and has been correct. He's done it multiple times.

For example he had Hawkins transfer info. Well before it was even speculated.

You didn't need to call him an idiot for posting this in an unassuming manner. He showed his humility, before trying to helpful. He's also displays curiosity in lieu of judgement. Learn a fucking lesson from him.

All I know is next coach better not screw up the team or we will hide-strap his a_ _ to a rail and send him up the Monon Line.
🙂

Have watched that show too many times I guess. Hackman one of my favorites. May he rip.
