Dawson Garcia returning

He's played 5 years.

2020 didn't count due to covid
2021 he played 16 games and it's in question if he would get a waiver
2022-2024 he played all 3 seasons.
Everybody needs to let it go Dawson is ready to move on

Just a typing problem...you couldn't hear me. I said 6 but my apprentice typed 5.
Point is...if he has a covid year? he has a season left if he wants it...right?

Hey everyone, OP here, instead of calling people who know more than you a moron, how about you take a second and do about 5 seconds of research. Dawson's FRESHMAN year at Marquette was in the 2020-2021 season, where pretty much everyone in college athletics could apply for a COVID year exemption if they wanted to. After being granted a medical redshirt from UNC and other family issues, I've been told that that year won't count either. assuming these two seasons wouldn't count, after his last 3 at UMN, in theory he would have one season of eligibility remaining. It would be shocking, but 100% possible. Thanks
I think most of the people who are saying that Garcia should not get another year have done the research. No one is counting the COVID year.

The issue people have with your analysis is the bold sentence. The NCAA rule states that you can only be granted a medical hardship waiver if you play under 30% of the games that season. Dawson Garcia played over 40% of UNC's games that season.

The NCAA granted his immediate eligibility at the U because he transferred due to family issues (didn't have to sit out a year), however, it has never ruled on whether or not that season could be a medical hardship (ie medical redshirt). In theory, he COULD have another season, but that would 100% be in contrast to the black letter law.

No he's played 5 years and the covid didn't count, so he's played 4. He would need another year to not count.

As well thought out as your point is, internet protocol dictates that we have to side with the angry uninformed guy with the little weenie. Sorry MU wins.

I'm telling you, man-to-man, only the lawyers can count when you are older than 18. There are mathematical rules that go beyond PEMDAS. I think the additional rules are found in the acronym SCOTUS.
