Go Gophers!!

Not the best offers, but gotta trust the staff. Especially when it comes to defensive backs.

seems like a great pick up! congrats claudin, he'll flourish with our defensive staff.

I am not worried about the lack of big time offers, if Jay S offered hi tis early, he can play.

He was offered on May 5th so they saw him during spring ball in Florida. He's listed at 6-2 198 with a 4.6 40. He's a pretty good all around athlete competing in high and long jump in track. He's from Southwest Florida which gets overlooked a bit on the recruiting circuit. Lee Campbell came from the same general area.

Tape looks good. Plays multiple positions so he is on the field quite a bit. He'll focus on one position and I believe he'll be great under Jay. Welcome!

He looks like another sleeper who will develop into a decent player under the Gophers system. I expect great things from him in two or three years.

If you can't get a high 3 or a 4* position player, you develop one.

6'2" 198 with a 4.6 40! Sounds like more than a 2 star to me. With proper technique, which you know he will be taught, he could be very good by his late sophomore, junior year.

Maybe... maybe not. I think Jay S is a heck of a coach, but this goes to show they are not into any power 5 DB that they feel they've a chance to land. I honestly think this kid wanted commit
sooner, but they held him at bay while they tried for a better option. Believe me guys, I hope in 2 years you can rip me a new a-hole on this young man.

Lol! Guy at the 1:20 mark on the punting team running off the field with his helmet off during the punt return!

Now that's what I call some high-quality H2O.....

Do you just make stuff up or do you have any real knowledge when you come to these conclusions? Yea, I do know this is a blog and anything goes, but my insight (Ryan Burns) is a lot better than yours. I guess you get what you pay for.

By rule he can't participate once his helmet comes off.

This kid is going to be good! LB size isn't far away or the heavy duty lay the wood S. I love the Joey Browner style S.

Killjoy...just research the 3 sights. Rating wise, he is a low 2 star on 247. Not rated on Rivals as yet. Like I said, if I'm wrong you can burn me. I just don't feel like we're getting results on the National level. Closing the borders we've been very good.

Looks like a player to me. Seems like the type of player that might have some SEC schools sniffing around this winter.

De'Vondre Campbell also. Just up the road in Fort Myers.

You're right, we should just restrict our recruiting to what the ratings are from those websites that never really evaluate most of the midlevel talent kids in the country. It is foolish to waste all of the coaches time and travel costs involved in doing our own evaluations when they can get all the information they need for a few hundred bucks by subscribing to those websites! Just think, we could spend the money we save on some real cool stuff, like maybe sparkly unicorn stickers for the player's helmets.

Anyone that believes coaches use the so called rating sites to make decisions about recruiting believes in the tooth fairy.
For those of you that like to read them carry on.
It is a way to pass the time but not predict the future.
The true determinant of the Kill era will be, given the conference schedule, the BIG W/L the first of December.
That is the only true test of recruiting and player development.

Settlers versus people with cable TV

I get the feeling some of you dismiss recruits with the consensus high ratings of the services and these same players being chased by Alabama, Michigan, Ohio St, Florida St etc saying they don't matter or that somehow therefore all the ratings are fallacy just because we aren't seemingly able to recruit those players. I agree what makes us competitive is the ability of our staff to identify and develop lesser recruited players. And according to Glasscock, it is our philosophy. I think the point is...if we can develop lesser recruited athletes to compete....we could become a power if we could add some higher rated athletes and develop them to an even higher level.

I think all Ruppert is saying is that it would be nice to see us compete in recruiting versus settling for what we can more easily get.

We seem to cling to the idea we never have been able to and we never will be able to...it was good enough for me or my kids, it's good enough for you now too...that whole woe is me limiting attitude.
