Bubblicious Thursday: Bubble Talk Goes Out The Window If Gophers Lose Tonight

Gotta give credit to Chris Collins. Northwestern has to be so annoying to play because they use the entire shot clock and end up getting decent shots, and they play good D. They are clearly the least talented team in the conference without Cobb.

That being said, I think we want Iowa to win. Most have them as a lock no matter what and we need them to keep their RPI under 50.

Bullsh!t, we want Iowa to lose. They are the most over rated team, we would have a better record, better RPI, etc..., I think we would jump over them.

Another one to watch is Montana (Gopher opponent) vs Portland St, tied with 10 mins left in the game. Hoping #2 Montana can win the Big Sky or at least make the title game.

I am not convinced either way to cheer for NW or Iowa. Come on someone make a convincing argument on what is better for gophers! Every point people have made make sense. Hard to decide

Northwestern is terrible offensively. Their only chance is to shorten the game, which they do.

Iowa has more top 50 wins, less "bad" losses even if they lose tonight, and a better road/neutral record.

Even so.....that was before the game was over.....thus, our game had not been considered.

My original point was regarding Arkansas being part of the last four out.

WTF....Lunardi still has Arkansas as first four out with an RPI of 72.

Their game was over. The Gopher game has no effect on that. How is Arkansas even that close?

Wow. Iowa getting out coached tonight. Northwestern has them playing their game. If Iowa loses what an upset

Snore. They'll be 9-10 in the B1G, have finished 1-6 and have an RPI of about 60. If they lose tonight and get in ahead of us, I'll be ill.

It doesn't make the Gopher loss to N'Western (the reason they are in this predicament in the first place) look quite as bad? Add that to the other reasons mentioned, a case can be made that it would be more difficult to exclude the Gophers if Iowa gets in. A loss tonight would cap off a 1-6 slump for Iowa.

Does it matter? We were ahead of them before our win. Even with a loss tomorrow, they will not change our chances most likely.

Marcus Predictions for BTT:

MY PREDICTIONS

Opening round:
No. 9 Illinois over No. 8 Indiana Illinois winner
No. 5 Ohio State over No. 12 Purdue OSU winner
No. 7 Minnesota over No. 10 Penn State Minnesota winner
No. 6 Iowa over No. 11 Northwestern

Quarterfinals:
No. 9 Illinois over No. 1 Michigan
No. 5 Ohio State over No. 4 Nebraska
No. 7 Minnesota over No. 2 Wisconsin
No. 3 Michigan State over No. 6 Iowa

Semifinals:
No. 5 Ohio State over No. 9 Illinois
No. 3 Michigan State over No. 7 Minnesota

Finals:
No. 3 Michigan State over No. 5 Ohio State

Lunardi still has us 1st 4 out. Everyone else on the first four out lost today. Ugh.

What I listed is looked at more by the committee than what you mentioned (conference record, last 10 games). The whole season counts and I just can't make much of an argument that our resume is better than theirs even if they lose tonight.

An RPI of 45 vs an RPI of 60 is no argument?

NW's RPI IS 134, an Iowa loss would cause them to drop like a rock.

I think Lunardi might be cracked. ESPN pushing their crap BPI BS.

Iowa has had just a terrible end to their big ten season. They don't deserve to win this game tonight. If they lose maybe they will be out.

They don't deserve to be in anymore...

Wow. Northwestern is going to win

If Iowa gets in after this, I think it'd be pretty strange. Eye test, RPI, etc. I just don't see them as a tourney team. I think Lunardi is out on a limb here.

I won't believe Iowa is in till I see it with my own eyes. I simply won't.

Even if Iowa gets in with a loss, the Gophers have a better case to make.
