Bubblicious Thursday: Bubble Talk Goes Out The Window If Gophers Lose Tonight

I'll tell you one thing, Ohio State better not lose to Purdue, or there goes one of our two top-25 wins. Only up 1 pt in the second half. SMH

As it stands, the Gophers are the only top 50 team on the outside looking in, as far as most projections go, with 3 teams who are projected to get at large bids with worse RPIs.

Life as a Gopher fan.

TAMU has two chances to finish Mizzou in 8 days and can't do it. Thanks for nothing. I see why you sold 12 tickets to the SEC tournament. Y'all sure love basketball.

Here's a question, would you rather be in a play-in game or get an NIT bid?

Missouri's lacks a signature win. They did beat UCLA (27), so there is that. Interestingly, they beat Arkansas twice. I still can't figure out how Arkansas is still projected to be in.

Missouri still has work to do to even be considered IMO.

Fordham is storming back on Dayton, only down 5 with 10 minutes left.

Play-in game every day of the week.

It's like getting invited to the Big Dance at the Hilton. You just have to go through the kitchen to get to the ballroom.

Hahah! Good point. Part of me thinks that a couple extra games and some more confidence for the young guys could do a lot for next year. Then again, you never know what can happen when you make it to the tourney

I'm going back to: I'm OK either way. If they make it, it's because they deserved to, i.e. they played their way in from this point forward. If they don't, they didn't deserve to, and it's because they didn't come up big this week when they needed to - and they didn't have enough momentum to win a Tournament game anyways.

Given a choice of scenarios, though, I'll pick the former.

Thank goodness Buckeyes won. Does St. Johns losing push them out of the bubble discussion?

But what if Purdue would've won and beat Nebraska? Could've knocked the Huskers out

True, but does anyone really see Purdue beating Nebraska? I'm not picking against Nebby right now even at a game a short drive from West Lafayette.

I meant does st johns losing push st johns out of the bubble discussion? Sorry if that wasn't clear.
I'd think so, most felt that game was essentially a bubble elimination game between the two.

The three biggest games tonight, in order of importance:

1) Need the Gophers to take care of business.
2) Need Colorado to win (vs. Cal)
3) Need Marquette to win (vs. Xavier)

South Carolina beating Arkansas 23-22 right now.

Have to think that'd put us clearly ahead of Arkansas if they lose and we win tonight. Go SC!

Or go hogs to lift our rpi.
Not sure which result is actually better for us
A hog win and a gopher win today might be best

I think Arkansas is probably out of the tourney with a loss though. Hoping they lose.

Don't have a lot of time, but just wanted to say briefly that, no matter what happens, win or lose, I'm pleased as punch for even being in serious Tournament contention at this point in the campaign. I did not give the club a chance in heck of even sniffing contention this year with the holes in the roster. I had serious, serious doubts whether they could even physically compete in this conference after they lost out on Buckles. I complain as much as the next guy about particular things that happen on the court, but the bottom line is that this team has done their school proud.

Go Gophers!!

Arkansas up 45-42 with 15 minutes left.

We've gotten a few good results, but most of the bubble games still not going the Gophers' way and the "experts" still inexplicably have weaker teams in front of us. If the committee is thinking like the "experts" are, we're going to have to do this ourselves by beating Penn St. and Wisconsin.
