Now's my chance to walk on
Have you picked out which 80's song you are going to use for your training montage?
Now's my chance to walk on
Sucks, It's ok tho. Guy's got a lot of class. Wish him all the luck where ever he's headed.
You have a point there. Allen may never have grown into a legitimate #1 WR, but he would have been one of our leading receivers for the next couple seasons.
As far as the people questioning how much he has contributed already, the kid was still young. He was in his 2nd year in college. I think this is a pretty big loss.
Another thing, I really don't think his issues were academic. I know that if there were any questions about his academics, he wouldn't have been allowed to walk on to the basketball program. The guys who walk on and attempt to play a second sport are held to a significantly higher academic standard than others. This is pretty standard because if you are the football coach (and the one giving him a scholarship) you wouldn't want to take a kid who is having a hard time staying eligible and allowing him to put a ton more on his table.
I think there might be two distinct possibilities:
#1: Allen wants to focus on basketball. If he did this, he would have to transfer. The U doesn't and won't have a scholarship available for Bryant Allen. He would also have 3 more seasons of eligibility left in bball.
#2: This is PURE speculation: Maybe Coach Kill wanted him to focus on football and didn't want 2 sport athletes. If he is our #2 WR, a tad injury prone, and pretty slight, it could make sense that the coach wanted him to focus on football and adding a bit of weight.
Why does does anyone care what happens to a player who quits on his teammates because he is not getting enough playing time? He may not be a bad guy but this is going to make it much easier for him to quit in the future when things are not going his way.

If I am wrong I apologize for jumping to conclusions. But in my experience lack of playing time is usually the reason college athletes give up their full ride scholarships to schools that were perfectly satisfactory for them when they were freshmen.
(facepalm) I take it you don't know how to use text messaging?
I'm glad the kid is gone: 3 wr coaches, 3 oc coaches, 3 dc coaches and 2 head coaches, its a wonder he stayed that lone, and not to mention he was not given the chance to show his skills, but they way the U responded with the negative words when he left, its a wonder any one would come to the U or recommend the University of Minnesota>![]()
Oh I do sent that last message from my phone. No excuse to ever use poor spelling and grammar.
If that's the case, could you please explain your first sentence?Oh I do sent that last message from my phone. No excuse to ever use poor spelling and grammar.
Allen had 16 catches/202 yds as soph. And 5 catches/45 yds as frsh. Which means on an average everytime the ball is thrown to him he's either close or gets a first down. Now do you think he wasn't good enough or just didn't get the ball thrown to him enough to be effective on the field? It took for deck to leave, green to get injured, gray to be injured, stoudemier to be suspened just for us to see just how good mcknight could be.Sometimes certain systems don't allow young men 2 blossom and its better 4 them 2 play where the opportunity is better 4 them. Wouldn't u agree?
