Brosmer is about as good of a QB as we've seen at Minnesota. He's clearly better than Leidner, Weber, Grey, and Kaliakmanis. He looks like Cupito and Morgan. He's not a Heisman contender, but Minnesota has never had a Heisman contender, and with the current environment, if they did, he would just transfer right out (see Penix).

So, keeping that in mind, I think the thing that you want isn't possible, which is why some of us are much happier with him than you are.

People are nuts if they think that Lindsey will be better than Brosmer is this year. He won't. If that were true, he would be playing for Notre Dame.

What's not always true, however, is having an offensive line that cannot run block. This line sucks compared to even the small-dude lines that Kill used to throw together.

You should call down to the field and tell Brosmer about the open receivers you saw from your couch.
 

Not sure what happened at half time, but from section 207, Gophers receivers open in the first half but covered like blankets in the second half.
 


Max needs to better about stepping up in the pocket or using that internal clock about pressure. He sees it, or feels it than takes a full second to move or try and run. That and stop with the happy feet, scared money don't make money. I know he isn't wheels, but leaving open yardage on the table, or not hitting the check down by throwing behind doesnt seem right 6th year guy this stuff has to be better. Smart dude he has medical school in front of him. Still time to have a better season. Max was decent in first half.

Weber is far, far superior to Brosmer. Hell, I would go out on a limb and say Weber at 37 years old and decade out of the game and he would still beat out Brosmer today. Sorry, but in my time as a Gopher fan, Weber is the best QB we have ever had and that includes Cupito - and this is with the constant coaching changes holding back Weber's progress. I hope Brosmer can show more for the rest of the season or I am fine benching him and getting some reps in for next year's starter.
 

Brosmer has a lot of experience, but not in our system or at this level. He looks good sometimes and bad at others. Too bad we don’t have him longer. He looks very good sometimes and seems like he could play well at this level. He just got here too late in his career.

Our receivers don’t seem very good to me. I think we’re paying for so many years of leaning so much on the run making it hard to recruit receivers.

I think Brosmer will improve as the year goes on and he gets more comfortable at this level. I still think we let Lindsay sit and learn for a year. PJ needs to continue to run a modern offense moving forward.

Our offensive line is not very good especially at run blocking. Biggest difference vs. Iowa. Both teams gained about 300 yards of offense so we showed some fight, but Iowa was the better team today.

I’m amazed we threw for as many yards as we did. I’ve gotten very used to a very bad passing offense so my bar is low.
 



Nothing against the kid. He was really good in an FCS conference that is weak. Fleck made him the starter without any competition for the position. Put that on top of an incompetent staff and head coach, its a failure.

World of difference in quantifying a QB as “not good” vs. “not a stud.”

Im chalking this thread up to someone needing attention.

Nothing against the kid. The takes are hilarious. My favorite is he's better than Weber and Morgan.

Agreed that some are extravagant.

I don’t think he’s a stud, but as shown in the two TD drives, where he made excellent reads and throws, he’s not a dud either.

He has limitations, like many QBs, and if we can’t run efficiently or give him a clean pocket, as we did in the first half, then he’ll look middling. He’s a pocket passer, so therefore he needs a pocket.

I find it dumbfounding to lay all the Os ills at his feet, when he showed what he could do in the second quarter.

He's an average QB. That puts him near the bottom of the BIG. We literally need a stud QB to get wins with this O-LINE. Is what it is.

McNamara didn’t outshine him either, easier to be competent with Michigan’s talent than Iowa’s.

Nobody said better than Morgan.

He is better than Weber who as a junior threw far more interceptions than touchdowns

Well good. I'm glad you weren't that wrong.

The jury is still a ways away from knowing if he is indeed better than Weber (he's not imo). Weber had zero running game his whole time here. Below average line. Decker for a season and a half. Four coordinators. And still was one of the best the last 20 years.
