Bo Ryan and Richard Pitino post-game handshake

The amount of talk on the 3 pointer was a bit much but there probably wouldn't have been any talk about it if it wasn't for the handshake deal. The original point was there was an exchange between Pitino and Grinch. That is where the whole thing started and what was possibly said and whether Pitino should have been pissed or not. My guess is that he was mad as hell that his team didn't show up, then WI ran up the score a bit and Pitino finally realized what a d-bag Bo Ryan really is.

Correct. Until we find out what transpired during the handshake, we can only speculate. Will we ever find out? Inquiring minds want to know.

I don't blame you for coming here. If one of the main topics of conversation on MY board was the genetic advantages of African American basketball players being spearheaded by a poster named ConfederateBadger, I'd be looking for a new postgame discussion environment as well.

Bravo!

Watching the game in the arena, it looked like Pitino gave Bo the stare down a few times as the final 20 or so seconds were coming off the clock. As they approached each other after the game Pitino was ready to give Bo a 'Tom Crean fly-by' type handshake until Bo stopped him. Bo talked for a few seconds, with Pitino more or less giving him the cold shoulder. I'm guessing Bo was trying to explain what happened or maybe just wanted to talk about his plans to steal Christmas again this year. It was clear though, Pitino did not plan to acknowledge Bo during the meeting until Bo stopped him to chat.

With the combination of how the game transpired and the, imo, unnecessary three-point attempts, I don't blame Pitino at all.

"Focus on your own game Rizzo, there's plenty there to keep you busy" -Kurt Russel as Herb Brooks (no idea if that's a real Herbyism)

With how much went wrong with the Gophers' play tonight, I hope Pitino is focused on that and how to fix it, and not on what Bo Ryan did.

I think this incident is an example of some Big 10 coaches having no respect for Pitino. They think he is a dumb kid riding off of daddy's success.

At least that's how I hope Pitino takes it. Personally, I'd have it no other way either. I hope Richard uses it as motivation to work even harder. And when we play Wisconsin next, I hope Bo thinks he somehow ended up playing against one of Rick's teams (and thinking he's Eddie Jordan).

The thing with Richard is he's hungry. The big coaches don't. Richard is the new employee trying to knock them all down. Whether Bo was right/wrong/classy/classless for the end of that game, one thing that made me happy about it was the look in Richard's eye. He wasn't only pissed, he wanted revenge. I'm thrilled this guy is our coach.

Looks like Pitino Sr's boys took a 3 yesteeday with 29 seconds and a larger lead. Thin Jr will Skype dad and angry stare?

I saw that comment on one of your Badger fan boards when I was searching for a video of the handshake. You guys are more obsessed with this than we are. Grow up.

Since this seems to be such a great crime, thought you'd want to know that there's likely to be some tension in the Pitino family with his dad doing the same.

Wait. Looking for the video? More obsessed? What?

Pitino had a very good year. Showed he can coach. Needs players.

I actually agree with the second sentence. To my earlier point, why not just enjoy the win, rather than peruse the opposition message board, obsessing about what people are saying, nearly 24 hours later?

Today I am a MSU fan. I hope Grinch's team gets more than one foul called on them in the first half and brust can't find the basket. And hopefully Harris hits a three to put them up by 20 and izzo keeps his foot on the gas. Oh wait his last name isn't ryan.

Maybe the refs will see Hayes hooking his defenders as well. It will be a tough next few years if that's allowed.

Good question. Guess I like to poke delusions especially the graduate degree level discussion about my favorite subject - when you should and shouldn't shoot at the end of the game. Izzo made us scholars of this important subject.

I love the ... "my wife even said..." one of the best self confirming arguments.

Means nothing to the coaches. That was yesterday. Over and done. Only important now to experts on message boards.

let's hope Michigan State jacks a three at the buzzer here...

You must not watch that much basketball. I don't have a big problem with people shooting to avoid the shot clock, but letting it expire certainly happens.

It's sad that you've literally come here just to be smug. Ironic.

Really? That's highly unusual. So much so that I don't think I've ever seen it.

Basketball has a shot clock. If the end of your bench hits shots without plays called for them, it's just offense. There's nothing classless about it. I know it's hard to be unbiased after a game like that, but yeesh.

I have never in my life met a Badger fan who does't acknowledge that we were straight booty for the vast majority of our history. That doesn't mean we can't be happy with the last 20+ years now where we have turned it around. You dismiss 20+ years like it is a flash in the pan, which is disingenuous at best.

Yeah but, you can be happy and can be great fans without always being condescending pricks. Packer fans are the exact same way. I congratulate you on your sports teams' successes and there is some jealousy in that regard; yet if my fellow fans acted like you all, then perhaps I should just be happy that we're not you.

They have the football team of our dreams. Same with their basketball team.

What??? HAHAHAHA. BS!!! Why would the team "of our dreams" be one who is regionally successful with a few conference championships and always sh1ts the bed on a national scale, in both basketball and football? If we're dreaming, why would our dreams be so small and limited? I'm not saying that their teams haven't been much better than ours in recent history, but "of our dreams"? What a ridiculous post.

+1 DPO...

Spot on. I would rather have their recent track record in both sports than ours, but if we did what they did, I would still be on here incessantly complaining about our repeated bed-wetting in the big national games.

Obviously our dreams are undefeated every year in every sport. How about they "have much better teams than ours"?

Blah, blah, blah. Say what you mean, mean what you say. Not a difficult concept to grasp anywhere else other than GopherHole.

Exactly right, you have to dream big to achieve great things. Let's not settle for Rose Bowl appearances, when National Championships are there for the taking. Making the tournament 16 years in a row, with one one final four? Why set our sights so low? So we can say we're like Wisconsin? No thanks.

I have respect for Bo Ryan for the success that he has had. But as a gopher fan at low moments like last Friday night I like to think of Bo Ryan waking up with cold sweats from nightmares of Vincent Grier and Larry Westbrook. Those two owned his team on a few exceptional personal performances.

We have more NCAA wins than them in the last 365 days.
