Arkansas paper says they are talking to Tubby and close to hiring him

Does Tubby really want to go into Rupp every year? Not buying this at all...

gw

Probably not because of this guy:

:D No, that wasn't it. :D

Ha ha everyone is tearing Tubby apart on that board.... to each his own. Has he really tarnished his image that much since being here? I find it hard to believe. One can argue if he still has the fire to bring it though....

I'll believe it when it happens. Who else recalls the charter jet during the Virginia fiasco last year?

Arkansas Rumor = Tubby's Camp

You really think Arkansas wants to hire a 60 yr old coach who will take 4+ yrs to get them to a NCAA tournament win?

The guy should be begging for Maturi's dumb @ss to give him an extension he doesn't deserve. Tubby's camp is just trying to force Maturi into doing something stupid; which will probably work.

I'll be honest, I was depressed/upset about the end of the 2010-11 season and wondering what role Tubby did or didn't play...almost to the point of questioning if he could really take us to the top of the Big Ten. But then as soon as I saw/heard reports of the Arkansas offer I immediately thought "oh crap, I hope we don't lose him!" I would guess I'm not alone. Funny how you think you want something better until it appears you've lost it.

I agree that it is starting to look like Tubby really "recruits" himself hard. More and more he looks like a mercenary who bolts for a better option and never battles through adversity.

2 years at Tulsa on to better job, 2 at Gerogia on to a better job, 10 at Kentucky tarnished by a midnight run, 4 at Minnesota tarnished by a midnight run and then 5 at Arkansas. Not a hall of fame resume.

Seriously? Has he left Minnesota yet? No.

This is rich. I love all these people calling for Tubby's head.

I can almost bet you that Tubby is not going to Arkansas.

All three posts here as stupid as they can be. Who are you guys? One bad season and all of this? If I were Tubby, I would want to leave just to stay away from jackasses like you 3.

Go Gophers

By the way, Tubby won't go anywhere until he proves that he could do it here too. He and all of us had so much of bad luck for the last 2 years. A true fan would sit down and analyze the season in a positive way. All parties should be accountable for this bad season but none should be run out of town. Stop wishing for the coaches or players to leave. We'll have a great season next year and many more to come.

My biggest concern is the potential transfer wave. If Tubby leaves I could see Austin Hollins leaving. I could also see Andre Hollins and Julian Welch re-opening their recruitment. Schools occasionally let players out of their LOI if their recruiting coach leaves. All of these players, with possibly the exception of Welch, are talented enough that they would easily receive good offers elsewhere and may not want to play under the uncertainty of a new hire.

I would expect Trevor Mbakwe to go pro as well.

Losing Tubby would be devastating to me as a fan of this program.

Does Tubby raise horses?

After what happened to Nolan, I'd be very surprised if Tubby has any interest in UARK at any price

Well Tubby was in Tulsa the other day, so... there is at least some possibility this is true.

Sorry, I cut off the end of my post with the caveat that he hasn't left yet.

However, you are kidding yourself if you believe Tubby (or his agent) doesn't put feelers out for these jobs year after year. If they were dream jobs I could see it but he is going after every job. It is beyond bizarre.

It may be rich, but his name has popped up for every opening since he got here. That doesn't happen without a little help from the people who represent him.

From the ABC affiliate that covers Ark. RT @MarkLericos: Per sources: Tubby rumors are basically smoke. No deal is imminent, or even close.

They have newspapers in Arkansas?

If we got someone like Flip as our replacement I think there would be minimal defection.
