Anonymous Players and Staff make unsubstantiated allegations

Now it's in the Strib and Sports Illustrated. Don't these so-called Mainstream media outlets vette there reporting?
Nope, desperate for content so they will just republish stuff like this to fill space regardless of if it is valid or not. The sad part is Perez is getting the attention he wants from the hit piece even if nothing comes of it long term.

Sucks that anyone with the program has to waste time defending themselves or the program itself but it is the way of the world now where people can just make anonymous reports and there is a segment of the population that will assume they are telling the truth with or without anything to back it up.

Biggest thing upsetting me about this: We & others now know who Front Office Sports is because none of us had heard of it before.

They got their name out there, and it's disgusting....
Well, BleedGopher deserves some credit too. Would any of us have found this story if he/she didn't post it here?

I get that that poster is paid by Nadine to post whatever he/she can find in order to keep the message board 'a churning, but sometimes it'd be nice if it wasn't posted.

Haha! I'm not paid by Nadine.

And yea, I'm sure you wouldn't have heard about this story if it wasn't for this post. My gosh.

Go Gophers!!

The injury allegations are interesting but as noted totally open to he said/she said judgment. The school looked at it and didn’t investigate any further. The practice of pushing players through injury - which probably happens at all levels at many schools and programs - and there is no evidence of an organizational design by Fleck to so- is insanely stupid and counterproductive if and when it occurs. Sometimes it’s the players themselves that think they’re ready when they aren’t and suffer a setback. We’ve all been there.

The Sconnie fans are going to make hay about the clapping thing. It’s a little cultish, sure. I get it. I like PJ anyway. His handling of Rochelle during the bowl season was a masterpiece.

Got your back, Bleed. Story is in every sports blog and national sports wire stories today. It was the 2nd question Fleck was asked today. Thanks for posting this and the other million things you find.

Haha, yes. It would have been posted here by someone else.

Should we have a contest to see who next week's coach in the crosshairs is? Non-story, but the Northwestern stuff will probably sput a witch hunt of coaches. Some may be justified.

Look, I’m just… I’m just sick and tired of guys that go by “AJ” try to stir up poo on Gopher football coaches over the years. First with Kill and now with Fleck.

Whatchu’ got on Mase, player?

It brings me joy that PJ irritates Skunk fans so much.

My freshman class when I played college football had 33 kids to start. 12 were still playing as seniors. Of the 21 who left or quit and stayed in school you could’ve found maybe half of those that would have some sort of beef with the coaches and could have been anonymously quoted in an article like this. At the end of the day, generally they either couldn’t play a lick or they got in trouble, and we were none the worse for wear when they left. Same thing happens everywhere it’s such a non issue. That said, PJ is goofy as shit and an easy mark. His program is a little cult like. The amount of involvement his wife has in the program and her whole schtick is goofy as shit. He’s easy to pick on for a lot of reasons, but at the end of the day the goofy dude is our guy and he’s doing just fine. When you look at how he closed the border this year in recruiting and his overall success and how competitive we are going to be this year even in the face of an impossible schedule, we really have nothing to complain about.

It seems about the only people that thought the article was good are Nebraska fans. I’ve even seen people that say they can’t stand Fleck call this a pile of poop.
In fairness, every time a coach from Wisconsin or Iowa has a loose stool, we have a contingent on here that starts posting that it is the end of their programs.

There is a really good chance that some or all of the anonymous sources were just made up. A calling card of todays young journalist.

Remember how your junior high math teacher wouldn’t accept your answer unless you “showed your work”? Journalism doesn’t require that. It tends to draw in folks who don’t like that exactitude.

There is a perception vs. reality issue here. Are good coaches supposed to go easy on their players? Good Coaches lift programs from good to potentially great. Jerry Kill did that. PJ Fleck did that. Players are expected to do things a certain way. Why - to learn routines that will help them be successful. Even the mundane has its purpose. It's no different in life. Im sure the U has had good/great coaches that have had to Coach their players through some tough spots. We are a program that typically has to build with 2 to 4 star recruits - mostly 3's with some diamonds in the rough. There are expectations of how to perfom and behave. That's life. I read the article.... I coached Varsity Boys/Girls Basketball for 25 years. I've had to bark at kids. I've had to push them to make them better. You reward them in that same vein. It's called "Coaching". My judgement means nothing in the grand scheme of this, but I have no knowledge of 1 thing that has ever been done wrong there. I hope the U has the ability to sue these ass clowns, although they would be perfectly justified in showing kindness - because there is nothing there. Futhermore, if this happened to the South of us, this would be a non-issue. Time to move on folks.... Coach Fleck shouldn't have to defend himself on this crap.

in a podcast, Pat Reusse said he thinks he knows who one of the anonymous players may be who contributed to the article. according to Reusse, a former Gopher player has been sending e-mails to Reusse and other local media people trying to get them to pursue negative stories about Fleck. Reusse said he thought the guy was just a disgruntled former player and never pursued it.

and if Reusse declined to pursue a negative story about Fleck, that tells you how little he thought of the allegations.

Bleed...you are a national treasure in GopherNation!

Very proud to say we've briefly met a couple of times...once at the corner of Oak and Washington (you had LittleBleed with you) and again at the Citrus Bowl against Mizzou. Some other times too around 212 but obviously those two were very memorable for me.

Hope AZ is going well. This site's traffic will crash when you retire. Long Live BleedGopher!

As for the asshat that started all this, Mr. Journalism AJ could learn a thing or two about how the title a piece. Your factual title would certainly draw more clicks in the end than his.

Danny B was talking about it on KFAN this afternoon and basically put no stock in the report.

Lol. Love when people call themselves a doctor when they studied politics and history
Why? He has earned an academic PhD. I would have big trouble with it if is were honorary or purchased. I think that it is standard for lawyers who have earned a Juris Doctorate degree to still be called "Mister." Not sure of the history of that convention.

Apparently Stahl was quoted in a different article by FOS in June about NIL. I'm sure he pitched the idea to them along with Hsu.

Also, in the way out there conspiracy, apparently multiple Nebraska fan accounts have hinted at something coming out for the past few weeks.
