Annexstad in the Portal

One thing is certain, at least to me...high school recruiting importance has been diminished in recent years and the portal is the new normal.

Might make those recruiting rankings that some fans worry about a moot point.
There's a lot of truth to that, good observation.

What are the odds Rattler goes to Penn State? I could see Annexstad and Clark competing at any other college opening. I would think Illinois would give each a serious look. I think both could easily end up going to bottom P5 schools and competing for a starting job. My assumption is that each left because they were good, but not great in practice. Not enough to dethrone Morgan and Kramer and Athan are better athletes.

They're not a moot point, the vast majority of players on your team will be players you recruited. You're still going to see an extreme correlation between recruiting rankings and success on the field. So they are really far from moot.

What is likely going to be less important is the # of scholarships per class. People will be coming and going and that number is going to fluctuate significantly going forward.

Will teams who recruit highly rated HS players well still usually win a ton of games? Absolutely.

You really don't think PJ is playing the players he thinks give us the best chance to win?
Not all the time.

case in point. Look at Mos stats when got meaningful time the years Rodney and Shannon were here. He did great! Yet once the others came back from injuries Mo went back to a reserve role.

When Morgan was essentially a hand off specialist during a few games this year (bc he was seeing “ghosts”, why not give another QB a shot, even for just a series.

Wright had a great 1st game, then we didnt target him much and he showed his displeasure on the field, shortly after we didnt see him much then he had to go to his friend/brother funeral.
Then a reporter asked about why Wright wasnt playing much, PJ said “you earn your playing time”
Morgan has to improve his pocket awareness and learn to throw better and more accurately when he isn't set. That's not the function of the OC or QB coach. It is 100% on the QB to get better.
thats on sanford calling the wrong plays.

Cioracca played to Tanners stenghts(short to mid game, faster developing routes)

I wish both him and Clark the best of luck. ZA in particular. Didn't he give up his freshman year scholarship (family is well off....so he didn't necessarily need his tuition paid for) so that the Gophers would be able to offer Dunlap? Maybe I am misremembering.....but that's the sign of a leader and team player. A really selfless move.

I agree Ciarrocca helped Tanner's skillset with the RPO offense. But when he took his 3 or 5 steps drops and the pressure came, he too often bailed off to the side instead of up the pocket. We saw that again this year.

But, I now understand only 20 or so guys on the planet can pull that off and we are not privy to even desire one of our own. With my newfound understanding of what the expectations are, I elected to not bring up those points. Your courage to do so is admirable.

Can't imagine what masters program ZA would be interested in there!
The one thing NDSU has (always has and always will), due to the nature of how the USDA funds nearly equal amounts of federal research dollars at each of the 50 state's Ag schools, that's at a naturally competitive level is Ag stuff.

(UND has the aviation school, if you were going to reply about that.)

Glancing thru ZAs Twitter follows, it appears Nebraska and Iowa may be showing early interest.
A handful of G5 schools as well.
