Point made. Maybe pimping isnt the right term. I do not know the family at all but the quote below comes across as pumping for adulation. I get the sense that Tommy is enjoying the recruitment process!

“In all honesty, I don’t want this to sound like a ploy, but looking at the fan base and looking at how they were yelling his name and cheering him on, that really made him light up,” his father said. “I do believe the State fans could probably push it over the top if they got on his socials and encouraged him on those things."

I certainly have no input nor any real skin in the game but I would not be encouraging Taison to make an important decision based on who is yelling his name and blowing up his socials. I know that this feeds a kid's ego but I hope he is thinking broader than this.

I'm pleased that Tommy talked at least a little about how Ohio State might be a fit for Taison's game but over half of the article was about the butt-kissing aspect of recruiting. I know that's part of it but butt-kissing turns really quickly when things get real.
Pimpin is a good word. Playa is a D1 guy. Of course he knows the family well.

Even if he would take money, that's not exactly pimping out your son. That would require putting him in a really bad situation for you to make some money. As much as I'd love him to come to the U, I don't think playing basketball for Kansas or Xavier really fits the bill.

I guess what I'm saying is that while I do think that pops is going after that bag, I don't know if it's not in his son's best interests. I can't think of a scenario outside of college sports recruiting where we would consider that that negative behavior from a parent.
It’s widely know in the basketball circles that Mr. Chapman has been pimping young Taison for years. Sold him to Nick Carroll, Totino Grace, and D1 Minnesota. Now he’s negotiating his NIL money. Playa is trying to change the narrative because of his D1 affiliation.

I’m definitely not a D1 guy if anything I got more affiliation with Gain Elite, which Taisom left to go to D1. I have seen you back Sizzle before was Jalen Suggs pimped then? He went to private school & got a under table NIL deal. Isn’t that the same thing. Nick Carroll is the last person I would afflilate with. He has stolen players from multiple people I know & stacked his team.

How’d he sell him? Did Carroll recruit him? Sure, but I don’t think the dad sold him any different than any other high level kid. You don’t think parents should be involved in finding their kid the best situation they can to develop (not saying D1 or TG is that, but they sold the family). Again been some pretty wild dads with some high level recruits but Chatman isn’t much different than others.

All of the decisions seem to have benefitted Chatman (his pops too, no doubt), but that's really not how the pimp and hoe game works. Things look to be going pretty well for Chatman, that's not usual for someone who is being pimped.

what was the final straw to get bb banned this time?
Not certain... BaBu told me that I couldn't answer a question they had asked earlier in this thread. I told BaBu that this was a message board and to take the conversation private if that was their intent. I can only imagine that BaBu must have gone off on an irate tirade. All I know is that I returned late last night and my post with BaBu doesn't seem to exist anymore... the mods must have taken it down along with BaBu's response.

I was confused for a bit too. But I knew Nadine wouldn’t go off on a tirade, and then figured out that BaBu was a reference for BarnBurner.

A father isn't supposed to encourage everyone to go onto his son's social media and smooch his backside.

He answered a question with something that matters to the kid and his NIL value. It’s part of the game now a days. Taison works hard and that won’t change because of what his NIL value is, but it’s still nice to see the kid get some coin while he can.

Fans will do this without his dad saying anything. Gophers do this to kids as well.

Suggs and crew actually tried to pimp. They tried to pimp a local private school with various demands they were told not interested..

Yes, people do this. Social media has become a big part of many people's lives these days. Some of it is okay fun. But it's also a lot of bragging...trying to look cool & rich. A father isn't supposed to lead the charge on that end. Mr. Chatman wasn't talking about NIL or business...he was talking about pure ego-boost.

Would you tell your kids to spend MORE time on social media?? To follow & message guys like Chatman?

Cool. What does that have to do with it not being any way at all analogous to pimping your son?

I never used that expression. But if a few choice terms get thrown around on social media...well...isn't that what he asked for? This is what Minnesota fans think about it.

If a person from a gopherhole article asked the same question and had the same response, I would guarantee gopher fans would be sending messages to him like no other. All he said was for fans to express how much they want him to go there. We get students to chant visitors' names on official visits. This take is comical. It is not bragging at all. If you go to any top 50 prospects' social, fans are commenting on their social media posts. It's part of present-day recruiting. If he listed the Gophers as number 1, no one from Minnesota would say anything about the comment.

But a father shouldn't be the one leading the charge on his son's ego-boost. Telling everyone to chant his name. A father is supposed to tell his son that egotistical things aren't what matters in life.

This is the quote your talkin about

“In all honesty, I don’t want this to sound like a ploy, but looking at the fan base and looking at how they were yelling his name and cheering him on, that really made him light up,” his father said. “I do believe the State fans could probably push it over the top if they got on his socials and encouraged him on those things."

He spoke about how much he enjoyed the fans chanting his name at the game. How is the dad leading the charge? He added context to what could push him on the decision. He basically is just telling OSU fans keep showing him that you want him there which is part of recruiting
