All Things Sandy Cohen Thread

So? Those guys still know as much as we do currently.

Not saying you're wrong, but how do you know the person who made the prediction didn't talk to Sandy, a family member, or a coach? How do you know if they're plugged in or not?

Just from my standpoint: Sandy doesn't even know where he's going to end up yet (he's made it clear he wants to re-open his recruitment), so how does some reporter posting on 247 have any idea? The answer, he doesn't. I trust you and MadtownGopher's predictions right now as much as these guys on 247. If something more develops, than maybe the prediction would be worth reading into.

Recruitments are fluid situations. Cohen very well could have been intent on going elsewhere, but then changed his mind and decided he wanted to play for his hometown team regardless of who the coach is. I hope that isn't the case, but how do we know it isn't? I trust Mark Miller's opinion about Wisconsin players more than anyone else on this board (I hope he is wrong though).

Cohen, a 6-foot-5 guard, stressed that Marquette is still a top destination for him but isn’t ready to commit until after knowing who the coach will be.

“It is probably my top school, but I don’t even know if I’m going to like the new coach or system there,” he said. “I don’t know who it’s going to be. I’m not sure if I’m going to like the new coach. I want to have all my options available. Marquette is still my top school, but if I don’t like the coach, I still have other options.”

The crystal ball prediction linked by MadtownGopher this afternoon is from Mark Miller. Mark is the Ryan James of Wisconsin prep hoops, in that he does a very thorough basketball yearbook each fall and is the most knowledgeable prep hoops reporter in the state. He is also a huge Marquette guy with connections over there (at least to former staff). I would have a little more confidence in a prediction to MU coming from Mark than I would from most of the people who do crystal balls.

It's starting to sound like Sandy overreacted a little to Buzz leaving. I bet he still ends up at Marquette unless their new coach is a terrible fit for him.

He may have overreacted a bit, but he was probably pissed off. These coaches sell them the world and then run. I also think he ends up at MU because they will likely bring in a good coach.

No over reaction. Just keeping his options open. By asking out of his LOI, it allows him to talk to other teams, while Marquette is looking for a new coach.

His relationship with Pitino is obviously going to be better than any coach they bring into MU. I understand he said it was his dream school but I would still give us a good chance.

One bad thing about Twitter, fools like this guy can say whatever and the entire country sees it. Funny how he's stayed silent recently.

Jim Ganzer is known as the Sid Hartman of Milwaukee.

Sandy has been retweeting UCLA fans. Are they in the mix now too?

Ehh I wouldn't worry about it... I feel like every recruit we swung and missed on was always retweeting our stuff too.

These college basketball players are pretty much the equivalent to modern day slavery.*

Anyone know when will we find out about Sandy's meeting?

Saw this on a MU board:

Saw this from a story on Cohen:

"Guys were still calling me late in December,” Murphy added. “(Michigan State coach) Tom Izzo was calling and (Louisville’s Rick) Pitino.”

Said Cohen: “All these coaches, who were legends, were calling. It was so hard for me to believe at first. It was amazing.”

Cohen’s preference was to be a Marquette Golden Eagle, however. It was a team he followed growing up and one he dreamed of playing for.

He made his decision to attend Marquette known through Twitter on July 27, almost three years after the walk that Jon and Lucy took together regarding his future.

“That was always my dream, but I never knew if I could make that a reality,” he said. “But coming out of Seymour, not many people get recruited. That was my dream but I never thought it would happen.”

He will stay at Marquette is my guess

Too bad he would have started instantly for minnesota

@SandyCohenIII: The visit with Coach Wojo was amazing. Can't wait to build a better relationship with him.
