Prohm seems like a home run for them.
Agree. If I were Alabama's AD, I might be thinking something along the lines of...."Now let's see, on the one hand we're looking at Coach A here, who's an extremely bright young coach. He's 40 years old, and in 4 seasons has put up a W-L record of 104-29 (.780) at his mid-major school, including putting up a 31-2 record and leading his team to a #9 national ranking in the 2012 season. Not only that, but this coach also happens to be an Alabama alumnus, in fact he started his coaching career by serving as an assistant coach/student manager for the Alabama basketball team for 5 seasons. Hmmm."
"And on the other hand we've got Coach B, also young and with great potential. He's had some positives and some negatives, some ups and some downs in his very brief career, but he has displayed a knack for recruiting and he does have great bloodlines. However, realistically speaking, based upon his career so far, the only thing which has him in consideration for this job as well as the only thing which landed him his current job is his last name above all else. Again, hmmm."
I mean seriously, which would you pick? Give me the fricken successful alumnus every time, because if Pitino would leave here for Alabama after only two seasons (while leaving this team in a state of semi-shambles), then he'll have already been proven to have the characteristics of a mercenary, so what's to keep him from doing the same thing to Alabama two, three, four years down the line?
To me the choice between these two coaches would be an absolute no-brainer.
