All Things NCAA Transfers and NBA declaration

Also Kevin Ware to Georgia State. With a starting lineup consisting of Ryan Harrow at PG, Kevin Ware at SG, and RJ Hunter at SF, they have a chance to be very good. As in good enough to get an automatic bid if they perform up to expectations this season.

7-0 Center Trevor Thompson of Virginia Tech is headed to Ohio State, and it officialy appears that Ohio State is stacked. (Could be the 2nd best team in the conference now). When you break it down, this is what their roster looks like.

PG- Shannon Scott
SG- De'Angelo Russell (#13 HS Senior)
SF- Sam Thompson
PF- Anthony Lee (stud Temple transfer)
C- Amir Williams

Bench...

SG- Amadeo De Valle
SF- Marc Loving
SF- Ja'Sean Tate (#28 HS Senior)
PF- Keita Bates-Diop (#22 HS Senior)
PF/C- Trey McDonald
C-Trevor Thompson (eligibility for 14-15 pending on waiver)

I don't think Trevor Thompson is going to be eligible next season, really not even worth trying to get the waiver in my opinion. People are asking for waivers all the time now with long odds at getting them approved.

Pearl is a rockstar in Auburn right now. If he wins a couple games this year they just might name a building after him.

I can see it now: the "Pearl of Wisdom" building, where honesty is never the best policy.

Unless Tate or Russell are coldblooded from outside they still haven't addressed their biggest weakness, shooting, they just got better at what their strength is. Also, as much as I hate Craft, they do lose his defense. Nonetheless they did underachieve last year so I think they'll still finish higher in the conference 12-6ish. No reason we can't beat them at the barn

Yeah, Russell is regarded as the best shooting guard in the class so you kind of have to expect him to be able to hit some shots. Bates-Diop is another guy who is highly rated largely due to his shooting. Also, Kameron Williams redshirted last year due to mono, he was a 4-star SG in the 2013 class and shooting is his strong suit as well. So they have addressed the shooting, who knows exactly how it plays out with three freshmen, but they are all highly regarded players and so they should definitely be better than 32% on 3s. Tate is not known as a shooter but he can bring some of that energy/effort element that they lost.

There might have been a sliver of hope for Chris Obekpa:

More later.</p>— Adam Zagoria (@AdamZagoria) <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamZagoria/statuses/455544980153851904">April 14, 2014</a></blockquote>

However Zagoria follows up with this article (http://zagsblog.com/articles/obekpa-tweet-gives-hope-he-may-remain-at-st-johns/) that states that Obekpa now wants to remain at St John's and that Obekpa has met with Billy Donovan.

They're not "stacked," they'll be lucky to be as good as they were this year. Lose Craft - best on the ball defender at G in the nation - as well as two scorers Lenzelle Smith and Laquinton Ross. De Valle is going to Europe, and Thompson is not likely to be eligible next year. What's left isn't bad, but isn't great either. Shannon Scott is nothing great, Sam Thompson is basically Rodney Williams, and Amir Williams got schooled by Eliason last year. Lee is solid but not a star, and the rest of the notable players are freshmen.

Looks like another team we should beat at home, but probably will lose to on the road ... just like this last year.

Yeah reading the articles it seems he will meet with Lavin later in the week to decide if he will be able to go back to the St.John's program. Kinda hope Lavin tells him he wanted to leave so leave and that they don't want him back now just so there would still be a chance he could be a Gopher because he seems like a great fit.

Jeff Goodman put together a confirmed 350 player transfer list. Happy viewing!!!

Looks like Harrell will be returning to Louisville. Huge for them, not so good for our chances in Puerto Rico.

A big commitment coming...

Since he's posting in the transfer thread I'd think it was a transfer, but it could be a 2015 kid too.

Yup, I realized that after I asked. Most likely a transfer unless he forgot what thread he was in like I did.

Maybe this is the same news that Mo Walker was tweeting about. I'm fully expecting Jabari Parker to transfer here and be granted immediate eligilbilty. I think that would qualify as crazy news that Mo couldn't believe he was hearing, so it has to be true.

The Louisville matchup gets even tougher with Harrell deciding not to enter the NBA draft.

Yeah that's too bad, would've been nice to see him move on.

Did they over sign then? Or did Ware transferring get them under?

I hate when people use the term big commit because often times it becomes a let down. Now if this supposed commit is a big guy I like the play on words. That being said when I here big I think more in terms of talent. If for example the commit is Lofton I don't think that is big. Not to down play any player we get but some are going to garner more interest than others.

To me a "big commit" implies it's a guy some of the major players have offered, a Duke, a Kentucky, a Louisville, a Michigan State, a North Carolina, a UConn, etc. Are we (legitimately) recruiting anyone for 2014 that fits that description?
