All Things Minnesota at UCLA at Rose Bowl Stadium October 12, 2024

Hermosa Beach here, with the tailgate tickets to ensure parking and the full Gopher experience. That said, other than bowl games, this is actually our first B1G road trip.

Staying at airb&b in Altadena, van lined up to take our group around throughout the weekend to take part in Gopher Nation activity’s

Per Greder:

“There’s tons of energy and excitement” about playing in the Rose Bowl Stadium, Wierzbicki said. “For road games, we have seen fans travel well, whether it’s Boulder, bowl games or some of these marquee new destinations. Sometimes I say nonconference, but it’s great to have UCLA in the conference. It’s unique getting used to that.”

The Gophers project around 10,000 to 15,000 fans will travel from Minnesota for the UCLA game — or drive from residences in Southern California, where the U has a “good” alumni base, Wierzbicki said. The estimate comes from anecdotal evidence such as internal ticket inquires, questions from fans and responses to events planned for L.A. that weekend, including those for the U foundation and a tailgate party.

Go Gophers!!
So the Gophers actually have been to the Rose Bowl in my lifetime.

No, they have that wrong. The 1978 game was in the Coliseum. The Bruins didn't play their home games in Pasadena until 1982.

Side note: the Vikings played in the Rose Bowl when they lost to the Raiders in Super Bowl XI on January 9, 1977.

UCLA lost to #16 LSU yesterday.

College Football News currently has UCLA at #77.

Minnesota is at #51.

"After a remarkable first-half performance, UCLA can’t find a way past LSU’s second-half adjustments in a 34-17 loss to the 16th-ranked Tigers."

Fleck will find a way to win this one so he can claim to win Minnesotan’s first Rose Bowl since 1962

Is there a Tailgate lot for Gophers? We’ve had good luck at past away games setting up next to other Gopher fans, but haven’t heard of a UCLA lot for us yet.

Happy to see that they are trying, but $110 for a three hour tailgate party? For "traditional tailgate food?" With no cheaper option for those who don't want or can't have alcohol? My group of 10+ would go at half that price, but will hit the bars, restaurants and concession stands rather than pay over $1,500 on the off chance we'll get warm Corona, a soggy hot dog and a fist bump from Mark Coyle.

Those official Gopher pregame tailgates are always a complete rip off.

My rule of thumb on these gatherings is that if one has to deliberate due to the price/cost of attendance then you are not the target audience for the event.

My assumption is also that those there will also be hit up for more fund raising donations.

The best play for non-tailgating is to park in the parsons lot, eat and drink downtown, then shuttle to the game. For tailgating you can get a parking pass for $40 but be prepared to wait a while to leave.

We got our tickets delivered yesterday. Section 23L which is not the traditional visitor section so it seems we sold more than just visitors section. Should be a big crowd.

Also plenty of tickets still available on the UCLA website so you can probably move around.

Thanks. I just looked at mine. Very high row. I got ripped off. I am not going to sit at the very top of the upper bowl corner. Gophers, you can stick it and ripped me off. StubHub and Seat Geek have better and cheaper. Shame on you for this rip off.

I am buying my replacement ticket now and won't cost me a penny because I am double reducing the amount I would donate otherwise.

AD Mark Coyle has presided over an historic slump in almost every Gopher sport. We need new blood. My b-52 carpet bombers are airborne. The Athletic department can stick it and I am going to try and stick it to you as best as I can.

What does Mark Coyle and the Gophers have to do with the UCLA Athletic Dept setting the price and seat allocation for their games at the Rose Bowl?

Thanks. We are staying in Old Town and planning to use the shuttle to get back and forth.

I wouldn't even bother buying new tickets unless you're really trying to get down close to the field. Just look around and find a gap in seats to sit in. I expected to have bad seats, and I'll probably start there and move in the 2nd half to get another vantage point.

8 PM Central game time, so 6 PM for those traveling out there. Plenty of time to tailgate.
Ugg...I'm sure I'm in the minority, but man, that's late. My 9 and 7 year old will be fine, but that's pretty late for my 5 year old, as the game will get done around 11:30pm central time. Also means the entire next day they'll all be really squirrely as whenever happens when they stay up really late.
