Kids don't see it this way. Their parents don't see it this way. He is just underrated and is as good or better than the guys ranked ahead of him based on anecdotal evidence of like the one time they both played each other, they didn't guard each other, but Kerwin scored 11 points and the kid ranked ahead of him had 10.

Do we want competitors scared of incoming guys in future years? Be good enough to stay on the floor. It's why most take the highest offer they get. Kerwin is a good worker, defender, and excellent shooter. He will find the floor wherever he is.

Surprised his camp isn’t concerned about the possibility of him getting buried on the bench by the revolving door of 5 star recruits at UNC. He would be guaranteed solid PT staying home but will wish him the best either way.
For what it’s worth, North Carolina was apparently a terrible 3 point shooting team last year. I’ve seen their fans say it was their worst ever. They were 313th in the country at 30.4% as a team. By comparison, Minnesota was 162nd at 33.7%. So if he is the shooter he is supposed to be, he may get some minutes there.

I think he is looking at 15-20 minutes there and 25-30 minutes here. Just my estimate. But what about next year when UNC recruits 5 stars to take his spot, dont have to worry about that here, I think.

I think he gets 20-25 minutes. UNC has a massive hole and he will fit perfect to what Roy likes to do.

What recruits did we lose because we waited for his commitment?

North Carolina is still a basketball helmet school. Might be fading a bit, but still a powerhouse. Tough to turn down a helmet school offer

It's hard to say "no" to a University that is smart enough, influential enough and has the booster money to make seismic academic fraud just disappear like a fart in the woods. You can leave the reading glasses and text books at home, KW...they won't be needed at UNC but you should bring your scuba gear and basket weaving materials.
No scuba gear needed. Only your hands are in the water bucket as you weave the water softened reeds. Unc forevah!

A lot of truth in that. Or a AAU game where a kid makes 10 three pointers without being guarded. Scout miss the next 3 games where the player goes 2-23. No matter who you are you will have to do it against someone that is 6'7 with a 7 foot wingspan and relishes shutting down people. Walton is the kid that over time can handle that.

I wanted to question this...but there isn't a single non-5 star from UNC to play significant NBA games (more than 25) since Danny Green...who was in the 2005 recruiting class...

I agree Walton can do it. I just laugh at people expecting those closest to the players (and the players themselves) to back down from a challenge. If Walton wants to play 40 minutes per game, he should go to Concordia Moorhead. If he wants to get better, go to UNC. If it doesn't work, he can leave.

But there are dozens who got to play at UNC which they hold in high esteem, play for a hall of fame coach, win conference titles and get to final 4's. They also get to play in the biggest games in front of the largest crowds.

Whatever. Would have been nice to have him stay here, but now he goes into the pile of players I don't think about until the rumors next year about him transferring back start to wind up.

It does suck though to lose a local player to a program that should have been given the death penalty, especially with our own history, that pales in comparison to the shenanigans they got away with.

Thanks for leaving the blade in and letting us bleed out slowly over the weekend, instead of pulling it out on Saturday, like you said you would.

That’s what a true friend does!

Close this G-D thread.

Enough time wasted as is. Never heard of Kerwin Walton.

Assume that coaches go hard after Peterson. Hope he commits soon.
