***ALL THINGS JALEN SUGGS THREAD*** UPDATED 9/22: Gophers Offer Scholarship

When the team creates the excitement of The Barn from the late 60s and 70s it will be a huge attraction for Minnesota kids. It will play a role in the rise of Gopher basketball. Winning and exciting basketball starts this year. I hope Carr gets his waiver. We again have depth at the 5.

But the reality is that virtually all of the truly elite talent that comes from this state will keep going to the blue bloods until the Gophers have some semblance of stability and consistent year to year success.

I would argue that the Gophers certainly have a semblance of stability. A head coach in his fifth season doesn't say unstable to me. The second part of your statement, however, we're definitely nowhere near.

We have a better team this year than what we started with last year. It should be impossible for a team to lose players two years in a row like last year. Time will show this to be true.

Suggs ranked 9th in recent update to top 250 (from 247 I believe). One of 3 Minnesotans in too 81

Uhh, no. Mason as 1st team B10 at guard is far superior to what we have now; not to mention so is Lynch.

This roster is solid and deeper but going into last year, with or without Curry, the roster overall was better.

Some considered us to have the best starting 5 in the Big Ten last year.

That would be great! Let him play both sports and he can decide which he like better later. The U has a good opportunity here to let him play both.

If you had to choose only one, would you rather have Suggs play QB or PG for the Gophers?

Guard, at 6'5" we can put him anywhere 1-3. Starting five of Washington, Suggs, Gabe, Curry and Oturu with Carr, Willis and Omersa off the bench, hopefully Garcia as well

If he's a 5* in football then football, no question, bad idea to play both.

We would only get 1 year from him with hoops, but 3 years with football, so I'll take him rowing the boat at TCF.

But if he's smart he'll stick to basketball and enjoy greater wealth over a much longer career.

well he comes here in 2020. Annexstad is only a Junior. and after earning back to back Heisman trophys I doubt Suggs takes over for him. But once Annexstad goes pro after his junior year we would have suggs for 2 at least. :)

but seriously. I cant imagine him not playing basketball

He's a better basketball player, but even with all things equal you would think a kid would definitely choose hoops.

They should definitely offer it. He would be on a football scholarship, and still be able to contribute for basketball. If that’s what it takes do it

Great game for Suggs to be at last night, he and Chet were up clapping and cheering on the Gophers down the stretch:

If Penny Hardaway can coach, which I think he can, Memphis is going to be a powerhouse for years to come. His name alone recruits for Memphis.
