Just hope he doesn't end up in the Big Ten or at UNLV (**** UNLV).
would it really be that miserable for you to watch him play against the gophers once or twice a year for probably one year? Why would it bother you if a certain recruit that at one point considered us has to play us at one point in his career. He isn't even a minnesota native so its not like he had any reason or obligation to come here in the first place.
Elijah Thomas has cut his list to ten and Gophers are not on it. Surprising.
I want to win games, sorry I'm not sorry.
So you mean you want to decrease to talent level of the big ten just so we can win games? Playing in the best conference in the country against the best teams doesn't lower our status. It increases it.
If you are cheering for OSU and Illinois to land 5 star players, you are cheering against the Gophers. Do what you want but don't pretend you are a gopher fan more than you are a casual B1G fan. You sound like a non-Minnesota alum with season tickets that just wants to see big name players and don't really care about the home team.

Did he and the Minny girlfriend break up or something? I thought she was our lifeline.
I don't know man, I kinda wish Nigel Hayes hadn't ended up in the Big Ten. I could do without facing him twice/three times a year. That's just me though!
You sound like one of the fans that wants to join the MAC or become an FCS football program just so we can have a winning tradition. I do welcome strong competition and i want to see my gophers play against the best on national TV and getting the exposure, not some cupcakes on Aggievision. Yes i do have conference pride and like seeing Big Ten teams succeed in the non conference as being a member of the best conference elevates the profile of our own program. I am proud to say that the University of Minnesota is a member of a great conference like the Big Ten. Recruits want to play against the best as well.
no it doesn't.
Well, I'll be sure to congratulate you when Jarvis Johnson commits to Wisconsin then! What a great get that will be for the Big Ten! Whoooo can't wait!
I know, right! Caring about your team's relative success is lame! We should celebrate the athletic accomplishments of ALL student athletes!
Hell, why restrict yourself to just the Big Ten? I cheer on all of college basketball. I have a gut feeling that this year's Final Four is gonna be made up of exclusively college basketball teams, and I'm gonna be jacked if it happens. I expect college basketball to produce multiple lottery picks in this year's draft as well.
Snark aside, I do cheer on most Big Ten teams in the tournament (not Wisconsin or Iowa, and other teams are fluid, depends on if they have players or a coach I really don't like or something), but I'd be at best indifferent to seeing other Big Ten teams land top recruits, and would probably prefer to see them remain outside the conference. And how much of a gut punch would it be to lose to Tyus Jones or Reid Travis next year had they stayed in conference?
Other Big Ten teams getting good players is an obstacle to the Gophers' success. I noticed in our vacated 1997 Big Ten championship year, the Gophers had a 1 seed in the tournament, and the other five Big Ten teams got a 6, a 7, and three 8 seeds. The Gophers won the conference at 16-2, and the second place teams went 12-6. Does anyone remember that the conference wasn't very good that year? The Big Ten championship banner doesn't have an asterisk saying, "Yeah but the conference wasn't very good that year."
I can kind of understand the desire to see the Gophers beat the best, but I'd rather win a Big Ten title when the conference is down than finish 4th and say, "well the conference sure was strong that year." Years later, does anyone even really remember how strong the conference was in a given year? I apologize for contributing to the derailment of the thread.

You've crossed the line, buddy. Don't knock Aggievision.
Who is in Thomas' top 10?
