Coffey just hit a 60 foot buzzer beater in quadruple overtime to win the state semifinals.

Go Gophers!!

Do we start calling him Amiracle now or wait until he hits a couple game winners in maroon and gold?

Strange game. Novak just about outsmarted himself with the stalling.

It's already a Bleacher Report Article about it. Insane shot. The legend of Coffey grows...

His game winning half-court shot was just shown as the #1 play on Sport Center's Top 10 this morning. Btw, along with it they also showed a replay of Blake's amazing shot from his back that won the ESPY back. They also gave a shout out to Hopkins being the best basketball school in Minnesota.

Looking at that stop-action shot, that's damn near 3/4 court and it hit nothing but net. Man, I hope this kid follows his dad and becomes a Gopher legend.

Here's a video of his shot:

Go Gophers!!

One of my favorite parts is watching the Hopkins kid near the bench at the 3 pt line when the shot goes in. Can't tell who it is, but he literally just stands there (I presume in disbelief) while it's all madness around him haha.

The coach had just told him that he was going to start the 5th OT.

per Sid:

• Amir Coffey, the son of former Gophers center Richard Coffey, is already a four-star recruit being courted by all the top colleges as a Hopkins sophomore. But it’s good news for Gophers basketball coach Richard Pitino that Amir is being quoted as saying he wants to play at Minnesota like his father did. Coffey’s 60-foot shot at the end of the fourth overtime lifted Hopkins over Shakopee 49-46 in the Class 4A semifinals last week.

Go Gophers!!

When/where was Amir quoted saying that?

Maybe this was mentioned earlier, but I was very impressed with Amir's interview after he hit the 60 footer. He was so humble and down to earth. It seems that his Dad has quite the influence on him. Great to see for many reasons.

You should have seen his reaction after they got beat in the championship game and when he received his runner up medal. Didn't leave a very good impression on how he acted!

I have never seen so much attention being payed to the losers accepting medals. Big deal ,don't suppose it being Hopkins had anything to do with it? I'll cut the kids some slack after blowing a lead. Funny Macura in the semis gets a T for taunting and not one word. How many Ts the Hopkin players have in the tourny?

I didn't see it, but perhaps the kid detests losing. That's not a bad thing, in fact, the Gophers need more guys who hate losing.

I didn't see that. Sounds classless, but I'm sure he was pissed. And I'm sure Richard had a little chat with him - at least I hope.

Agreed and I don't see a problem with how the kids from Hopkins acted at all. They had just lost the state championship game even after they had controlled most of the game and looked like they were locked in with a win. If I'm a coach I want kids who are mad and disappointed about finishing 2nd not just happy to be there.

+1

Didn't see it, but it shouldn't be too hard to lose with grace as well. You can be disappointed, etc. and still demonstrate sportsmanship.
