All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

Phil Mackey on PD just said Vikes would be super bowl contenders right now had they brought in Rodgers and his $12 million contract.
His argument is that Rodgers is the #12 rated QB. Also our defense is rated #1 over the last 7 weeks according to stats.

Mackey said the decision to not bring in Rodgers should go down as one of the biggest personnel mistakes in viking history. There is little doubt that KOC was intrigued with the idea last spring. However the hate toward the idea of bringing in Rodgers that was shown by Vikings media and fandom alike was too much for KOC.

Zulgad, who hates Rodgers with the heat of a thousand suns, grudgingly agreed with Mackey's assertion.
lol at this whole concept. agree 100% on Rodgers getting smacked. do we make the playoffs? probably purely on the stance that the Steelers then have no QB and we beat them. Is this team anywhere near the upper echelon teams? No

teams with a winning record we've beaten. Chicago. That's it. that's the list.

Rodgers is 23rd in QBR (lol at anyone citing qb ratings anymore). We'd have an ok offense and a good to great defense (so a slightly worse version of Seattle). You're going to string together 3 games, possibly on the road in cold weather with a pass first offense under a 42 year old QB having his 3rd straight below average QBR season because his name is Rodgers. That's literally the only reason anyone thinks this is because they've created some "mystique" around him. If you were going to pay that money, Daniel Jones signed for the same (their contracts are 350k different) and has given markedly better efficiency numbers. If you're saying a mistake was made, it was there. Not in not signing an old guy who plays a wildly different passing structure/system than what KOC calls

Merry Christmas to you too.

The dropped TD and dropped pass that resulted in an INT Sunday were the fault of the WRs, not JJM.
Merry Christmas to you as well, my friend! (And all on this thread, as well)

As is usually the case, the real, actual truth allows for non-zero percentage of blame to shared by all parties. Not black and white.

JJ (the real one, Justin Jefferson ... I look forward to no longer needing to make this clarification) didn't have any problem hauling in similarly located passes yesterday.

That proves, in my mind, that a large portion of the blame lies on the throw.

We can waive our hands or talk about money or similarly irrelevant things ... but it doesn't matter if you give someone $1Billion dollars, there is some setting on the Juggs machine that simply is uncatchable. That proves the concept.

Being a Pro Bowl caliber talent and performing as one in terms of production to actually warrant the actual honor are completely different things.

That should be obvious. The designations aren't based on potential or previous season output.
The designation is very largely meaningless.

The Vikings have 40 plays for 70 total yards and net -1 yard Passing.
It's possible that the offensive game plan was setup to actually try to not win the game.

I could actually buy that.

Detroit just plain did not play anywhere near well enough to deserve inclusion in the playoff.

Only not getting the Cardinals in the NFC West crossover is the big difference between the 3rd & 4th place schedule.

Tennessee or Indy for the AFC south crossover
Washington or NYG for the NFC East crossover

Thank you.

Whenever I think about Sharon exploits, this comparison always pops in my head -

Eli Manning 2SB
Sharon Rodgers 1SB
Trent Dilfer 1 SB
Brad Johnson 1 SB

Did you ever play competitive football, HS+? Or any sports?

I ask because, you seemingly speak largely on an observational basis vs. experiential. That doesn’t mean you don’t understand some concepts or are less of a fan than anyone else, rather there are some things in life you learn by doing vs. watching.

Veteran QB would've solved that.

Just an incredible blunder.

They signed one, Carson Wentz.

He won 2 out his first 3 starts, got hurt in his 3rd game. His performance went down, they lost a few games and was ultimately placed on the shelf due to his injured status.

Well Brosmer is not the answer. The OL is just bad and Vikes are overpaying about 1/2 if their roster. I would trade Jefferson and do a complete rebuild. But GM wont because he'd be fired.

Get Brian Flores a contract extension ASAP.
Why won't he be a head coach and defensive playcaller somewhere else, next year? Might have missed our window with him as DC.

Then again, maybe no one will be interested due to what happened with Dolphins
