All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

Dan Jones doesn't get injured if he stays here, and we're in the playoffs with him.

Was beyond obvious what kind of veteran I was talking about. Won't bite on trolls. Stop trolling
You keep saying you won't bite yet you keep failing.

Why in the world would anyone assume Daniel Jones doesn't get hurt in Minnesota if he had stayed?!? That's flat out ludicrous. If anything the correct assumption with the Vikings O-Line is that he would have been injured much earlier than December, likely quite seriously.

Like McCarthy in September.
Like Wentz in October.
Like McCarthy in November.
Like McCarthy in December.

Jones didn't get hurt because of a hit he took while being sacked. Complete opposite.

You're really trolling hard today.

First in trying to pretend that anyone was talking about a vet like Wentz when they talk about a vet, and now with this completely opposite injury comparison.

McCarthy's Sept ankle injury was completely unrelated to sacks, as well. He hurt himself running. His own fault

Bringing it up means you were trying to make a point out of it.

Here's a tip for you, if I was trying to make a point of it (beyond the fact the Vikings had zero Pro Bowlers), I would certainly state what that point is.

You failed again on your promise not to bite. Good one!

You didn't need to. You were trying to ding the Vikings for not having any Pro Bowlers, and I blew that non-point back right into your face with the Jags.

A solid, veteran QB was always the correct decision for this team.

Fan angst has absolutely nothing to do with it. Rubes would love to think that fan opinions matter, but they don't.

Rodgers may or may not have been the best answer, but another very good answer would have been to keep Darnold.

bUt ThEn We CoUlDn'T sIgN aLl ThOsE FrEe AgEnTs!!!

Like Hargrave, Allen, and Ryan Kelly?

I think fan and media angst had a lot to do with it. Perhaps shouldn't have, but it did.
But you are correct, Kwesi misspent a lot of money last off-season. I would think it justified if he is let go next week. If not, he should be on a very hot seat going into next season.

The 2024 defensive free agents were really good last year, and were good again this year ... when they were healthy.

Eric Wilson was a massive contribution and would love to see him signed as the permanent starter.

But the signings on the lines, other the Fries, were busts.

Turner started finally coming around, wish it had been earlier. Still not sure we wouldn't have been better off with Verse ..

The sacks were because McCarthy and Brosmer held onto the ball. So did Wentz, trying to save his career and force plays to happen.

Rodgers knows how to quickly throw it away. That's what a solid (as was obvious, didn't need to be clarified) vet gets you. Also how he would be able to avoid injury.

This defense, with Rodgers ability to find our playmakers, would love to see into another universe to actually know instead of your biased handwaiving.

Agree with you that OL is the major stumbling block.

Maybe we don't win a playoff game. We spent $12M on a one year deal with him instead of signing Hargrave and Ryan Kelly.

No worse. Perhaps a bit better.
bold 1: he also got hurt taking a hit this year. the same as any qb has the risk of. I'll 1000000000% give you he'd take less sacks than Wentz and Mccarthy, but Mccarthy's (particularly) mobility has also gotten him out of some sacks
bold 2: this is literally the exact same thing you're doing. We're all coming up with an opinion with no way to prove right or wrong. You're using eye test. Apologies I'm providing stats

Here is my eye test for you. Rodgers is better than Mccarthy this year. He doesn't look enough better that we'd be super bowl contenders.

We're also doing our defense favors under the new style we're playing by playing slower, more methodical, and run heavy (weird how committing to trying to run the ball is doing that KOC; who would've imagined?) despite trailing much more this year which has coincided with them winning and the defense playing better. There's no way to account for all the variables, but I do agree with you that its highly likely our offense scores more points under Rodgers while Rodgers is healthy than Mccarthy if put in this offense

Help me out.

Was I dinging the GM? The coaching staff? The scouts? The players themselves? Any specific player(s)? The Wilfs? The medical/training staff for not keeping a lot of them healthy?

Some of the above? All of the above?

Maybe the process is flawed (as I stated in part because there were still 2 weeks left in the season)? Maybe there is voter bias?

Or maybe, I just found it interesting that they failed to have anyone achieve the honor, regardless of their current record and failure to reach the Playoffs.

If the Jags are able to have success without any Pro Bowlers, that seems to be an indictment on KOC.

Very reasonable post, and I'm good with it. (Other than the part about QBR ... I will never acknowledge some thing that ESPN made up out of thin air, when we have a perfectly good QB rating metric that allows fair historical comparisons.)

Like I said, we make the playoffs and maybe we don't win a playoff game. But $12M for a much better season, and maybe we don't sign Kelly or Hargrave.

How is that possibly worse? Not saying you were saying it was worse.

OK, I'm good and agree with you that it doesn't make us Super Bowl contenders, on paper in of itself. We'd have to have a look at that alternate universe. Crazy stuff happens when a ball gets rolling, sometimes.

Those guys are like maybe the 4th or 5th most interesting Vikings talking heads. They have to say bombastic, hyperbolic things to try to get attention.

It's not an interesting point to bring up, and it really should not have been brought up without additional context that it was so meaningless. Your fault on that.

The Vikings have Pro Bowlers, anyone reasonable agrees. You admitted to being a troll

I was cheering for us to lose, but have to give KOC and his culture credit for keeping the team focused and motivated these last four games despite being out of the playoff picture.
