All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

I'm one of the biggest KOC fans and backers around, but this game is an indictment on him as a play-caller. I have seen better play-callers than him do more, against as good or better defenses, with LESS than Brosmer under center.

The lack of creativity in the run game is just awful

It’s too bad the offense couldn’t at least be average this year with the way this defense is playing right now.
Our D would cause problems for any playoff team.

I wouldn’t be shocked if Harry plays again next year - he’s been at an All Pro level the last few weeks.

Campbell's commitment to running the football in this game, even though they're averaging less than 2.5 YPC, is impressive. The Vikings are averaging over 4 YPC and KOC keeps rolling Brosmer out in the pocket. Just maddening

I think the whole game plan and instructions placed on Brosmer based on the Seattle performance was:

DO NOT TURN THE BALL OVER.

Just give the defense/special teams a chance to win it.

JJ now has the most receptions through 6 seasons in NFL history @Murray Warmath and that’s why you’d never trade him.

With 100 more receiving yards this season, he’ll also have the most receiving yards through 6 seasons.
JJ now also has the most receiving yards through 6 seasons in NFL history by passing HOFer Randy Moss.

Brosmer’s Rtg = 62.2

Goff’s Rtg = 64.9

Goff’s was worse until the final drive. Retool the offense a bit, and make a run next year. We’re not that far away.

Brosmer has won as many games at the Zygi Dome as McCarthy this season.

So has Wentz.

That performance by the D was amazing; Harry said on the postgame interview on the Fan, that it was one of the best he’s ever been a part - that’s a large sample size😁.

Even more crazy when you look at the stats going into the game.

How these teams match up from a data standpoint

Here is where each team ranks in 2025 in the following categories, using explosive play rate for explosiveness, success rate for efficiency and DVOA’s strength of schedule:
Vikes (first column) 🦁 (second column)
Off turnovers32nd1st
Def turnovers23rd13th
Off explosiveness15th3rd
Def explosiveness11th22nd
Off efficiency23rd15th
Def efficiency15th6th
Strength of schedule15th17th

I think that Strength of Schedule stat gives the Lions the inside track on the NFC North #4 Schedule if they wind up Tied with the Vikings after Week 18.

re the 4: big kickers for next week will be if packers have any chance to move up in playoff seeding (getting the 5 to get the NFC south is a massive advantage or even the 6 and getting the, likely, Bears) or if they'll be sitting guys if the game doesn't matter

If GB loses, they'll sit all their guys next week given how banged up they are. Detroit didn't sit players when they were a top seed, so I'd guess they'll play their guys as that's kind of Campbell's way. I'd guess Chicago plays everyone no matter what as it'll matter for seeding so we're going to end up as the 3 in division in my best estimation

think that's just based on h2h first as far as the tiebreaker no?

Heavy is floating Travis Etienne as a replacement for Jones - I wouldn’t say No (younger and cheaper😎)

From their article -

He put up north of 1,000 rushing yards in 2022 and 2023, and is one yard shy of eclipsing that mark this season with a couple of contests remaining. Etienne is a dual-threat back who has amassed 3,690 rushing yards (4.3 yards per carry), 1,316 receiving yards (165 receptions) and 32 total TDs across 64 games played.

Etienne, 26, is in the final season (fifth-year team option) of his $19 million rookie contract. Spotrac projects his market value at just shy of $13.5 million over a new two-year deal.

That annual average salary equates to a little over $6.7 million, while Jones’ cap number in 2026 is $14 million. Minnesota can save $7.2 million against the cap by cutting the 31-year-old Jones, per Over The Cap.

Oh yeah, Head to Head is probably the Tiebreaker for Standings. I was confusing it with Draft position which is Strength of Schedule.

Lions went all out 2022, Week 18 against Green Bay when they were eliminated. Not sure it's like for like, as up to that point the Lions were trying to build something after multiple decades of futility.

If the Bears are still playing for the Division or the #1 Seed, I think they go all out. If it's just for the #2 or #3, then I think they opt for Load Management as they won't have a Bye and will at least have 1 Home game.

Phil Mackey on PD just said Vikes would be super bowl contenders right now had they brought in Rodgers and his $12 million contract.
His argument is that Rodgers is the #12 rated QB. Also our defense is rated #1 over the last 7 weeks according to stats.

Mackey said the decision to not bring in Rodgers should go down as one of the biggest personnel mistakes in viking history. There is little doubt that KOC was intrigued with the idea last spring. However the hate toward the idea of bringing in Rodgers that was shown by Vikings media and fandom alike was too much for KOC.

Zulgad, who hates Rodgers with the heat of a thousand suns, grudgingly agreed with Mackey's assertion.

Put the packers in the playoffs

Dropped two spots in the draft

Lost the 4th place schedule

and made the packer where they will rest the starters

So Vikings like and so predictable.

I find it difficult to believe that a 41 year old QB would have able to maintain health through 17 weeks with the way that the Vikings Offensive Line played.

I don't think Rodgers would have had any better fate than Wentz or McCarthy who have been sidelined 4 times in total.

If you plugged him right now, winning more than 1 Playoff game seems hard to fathom. He would get pummeled against a quality defense.

Fool’s Gold😎.

For Pittsburgh a great fit, what other options did they have? Vikings needed to play JJM to see what they have. Additionally all the injuries we had this year on both sides of the ball compared to last season, meant it wasn’t in the cards.

I think we can make a deep run next season, if we’re healthier as in 2024 vs. 2025 and have some luck, ju🤷‍♂️.

Also I think the 🦁🪟has closed
