He's certainly lost the team. His screed calling them out after the embarrassing series in KC and they've lost 3 of 5 to the terrible Reds and Angles.

You guys need to take tongue in cheek predictions on this message board a bit less seriously. There's like 10 people who read this thread. I'm indifferent on Rocco. He only does what his spreadsheet overlords tell him to do at 2 PM.

They might run the clock out on the season and make it in, but there is almost no chance they will win a series much less go on a run. Some years that would be fine. This year it feels like it would be better to just get it over with.

You really don’t think you can legislate the behavior of arrested developed middle aged men 😜, do you? We have so little in our lives at this point, which makes us feel like we’re in 8th grade again; pathetic, yes, but it’s the circle of life.

With Pablo and Ober, we have a chance in any short series and post game experience is always valuable fot the core of a young team.

Plus it’s extra cash for the clubhouse guys and coaches who aren’t compensated at the same level as Rocco and the players.
 

Correa and Buxton were both pulled after 4 innings last night.
Neither one is in today's lineup.
 




They should just make the Rally Sausage the manager. It's got more personality and the players seem to actually respect it.

10 of last 13 games will be against Cleveland, Boston and Baltimore. so if the Twins make it into the playoffs, they will have earned it.

Tigers has series with KC, Baltimore, Tampa and close with 3 against the Whiteys.

BTW - Whiteys with 12 games left. need to win 5 for 40 wins. they have 6 with the Angels, 3 with San Diego and 3 with Detroit.

Baltimore is trending towards ending up locked into the #4 spot. That would help the Twins as they would likely rest as many as possible the last series of the year.
 

Both playing for their hometown Minnesota Twins, St. Paul natives and Golden Gophers all-time greats Dave Winfield and Paul Molitor collected their 3,000th major league hits on this date in 1993 and '96, respectively.

Molitor was the first person to triple for their 3,000th hit.

Winfield's 3,000th was especially epic.

It came off Hall of Fame closer Dennis Eckersley with Kirby Puckett on third down 2-0 in the bottom of the ninth. Scott Stahoviak drove in Winny to tie the game. Dave Henderson put Oakland up 4-2 in the 13th inning, but the Twins rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning, with Chip Hale driving in
Denny Hocking for the walk-off win.

Jim Kaat was the color commentator on the telecast.

Jenkins is the first Twins hitting prospect in 25 years to play a Double-A game during their age-19 season. He’s also the only 19-year-old hitter, for any team, to play multiple games in the Double-A Texas League this season and one of just seven to do so in the four seasons since the 2020 campaign was wiped out by the pandemic.

Even seeing Double-A time as a 20-year-old is a rarity among Twins hitting prospects, with only Royce Lewis, Byron Buxton, Jorge Polancoand Miguel Sanó doing it in the Target Field era (since 2010). Meanwhile, there’s a real chance Jenkins will reach the majors in his age-20 season, and it’s possible he’ll do so as the No. 1 prospect in baseball.

as I've said before - the Twins' front office has some personnel decisions to make.

Let's say for the sake of argument that both Jenkins and E. Rodriquez debut with the Twins in 2025. They are both outfielders - Rodriguez can play CF, but some scouts feel he profiles long-term as a corner outfielder.

so what does that look like?

I think it's fair to say that Kepler is not coming back. Wallner is going to play somewhere - LF or RF.
If Buxton is healthy (yeah, I know), he's in CF. I'll predict that next year is Larnach's last year with the Twins. Jenkins and Rodriguez will move past him on the depth chart. Keirsey might stick as a defensive replacement/Buxton injury replacement candidate in CF - but he also hits LH. Martin and Castro still potentially available as RH OF options.

Twins by next year will have too many OF candidates. seems obvious to at least try to trade a couple of them for bullpen help.

I'm curious how the avid fans on here compare the long-term value/potential of Wallner versus Larnach. Is there a gap in talent that is undeniable or are injuries the deciding factor?

as I see it:
Wallner - more power, better throwing arm, better athlete. Larnach - when healthy - I think will hit for a higher average, but he's an average OF at best. Larnach can be a good complimentary piece in the lineup, but Wallner has the ability to carry a lineup when he's hot.

I just think Wallner brings more to the table. If I have to choose one to keep, it's Wallner. no doubt. Yes, Wallner is streaky. but I just see more upside with Wallner.

Wallner thus far has amassed more career WAR in about 130 fewer games. I like Larnach's bat and wouldn't mind a scenario where both can be kept on the roster, but Wallner has generally better numbers and based on my amateur eye test seems to have more upside due to his incredible raw power.
 

Twins pick up lefty Cole Irvin for the last two weeks of the season. He’s done well against left-handed hitters (OPS .477) but getting crushed by righties (.935).
 


going out on a limb here, but I think the Dobber is going to make it through waivers and wind up back on the St. Paul roster for the rest of the season.

have to think that Irvin is being brought in as a situational relief pitcher. which suggests a certain lack of trust in Thielbar.

It can also indicate that Funderburk is done for the year and this gives them additional flexibility with another lefty; it can address multiple issues.
