I've heard both theories mentioned as to whether or not to have the Super Bowl on President's Day Weekend.

It was Peter King (on the Dan Patrick Show) several years ago that mentioned that moving it to the Holiday Weekend is not as much of a slam dunk others might think with the TV ratings.

Another factor is for the host city (depending on the location) President's Day weekend might already be a tourist destination, so they could lose out on the double dip effect of bringing in visitors.

A small part of it is that he was dinged up a few weeks ago, not major.

But more importantly, it's just the fact that there are some really, really good players playing in front of him. Nothing wrong with bringing him along slowly. Greenard and Van Ginkel are playing at basically elite levels.

Turner has been getting reps, and he's doing just fine.
 



Report: 'Zero truth' to Matthew Stafford-Vikings trade rumor​


In addition to the report of the Los Angeles Rams shopping Cooper Kupp on the trade market, there was also an unfounded rumor that the team is talking to the Minnesota Vikings about a potential deal involving Matthew Stafford.

The Stafford rumor was shared by an unverified source, claiming the two teams were in “serious trade talks” for the quarterback. However, on Wednesday, Vikings reporter Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune shut down that claim.

Goessling tweeted that a source told him “there’s zero truth to the idea” that the Vikings are trying to trade for Stafford, which should end any speculation about the Rams dealing their star quarterback to Minnesota.

The trade deadline is less than two weeks away and while it seems highly unlikely that the Rams will trade Stafford, anything is possible – especially if the team loses its next two games and drops to 2-6 before the deadline.

As far as sending him to the Vikings, who are 5-1 with Sam Darnold at the helm, that doesn't even seem like a remote possibility.

I'd be happy if they just went out and picked up a serviceable Guard. That's about the best they could do.

Would love to see more teams approach the trade deadline like the Vegas Golden Knights do; the Knights front office goes shopping for talent at the trade deadline instead of the offseason, when everyone else is shopping. Why not get a big time talent from someone Selling at the deadline that you know you can sign beyond this season?

The Vikings will make a move, no doubt about it; just not sure how much of a splash it will be.

I remember a time when we didn't write off a 21 year old 6 games into his NFL career.

Consider Boye Mafe's rookie season versus year 2 and now into year 3.

Look at Lukas Van Ness's rookie season stats versus where he's at in year 2.

Who knows where Turner will end up, but I don't think the finger needs to be on the panic button.

The pending FA list for next offseason is really unimpressive. Trading for an OG now for immediate help rather than waiting until 2025 to try and outbid other teams for marginal talent seems quite logical.

I have no idea what the O/U is but I'm still taking the Over.

Hold Kyren Williams under 80 yards rushing and we win. I would imagine KOC wants this game badly.

The O/U is at 48 right now. I didn't do the Over because I don't know how much I expect the Rams to score.

I took the Vikings on the Halftime M/L because they've led almost the entire season except against Detroit. I took the Over on the Vikings point total, but I juiced it up to 29.5 pts for a +160 payout, and took the Over on Receiving yards for both Hockenson (24.5 yds) and Nailor (25.5 yds).

Part of me wants to hit the Vikings hard on this, straight up; just don't see how the Rams can stick with them. But the only thing holding me back is a short week after a big emotional down-to-the-wire game against Detroit just a few days ago. There used to be a crazy stat about how teams did the week AFTER playing either Pitt or Baltimore (forget which one, but both very physical teams); teams the week after playing one of them HISTORICALLY failed to meet the spread. Not saying Detroit is that physical, but they're a tough team. So for now, I'm not betting the Vikings big at all; but I'd be shocked if they didn't put away the Rams

Not to mention the Vikings had to travel to the West Coast on that short week you mentioned. I would agree with your hesitations.

Both running games could cook tonight, thus grinding out the clock and hurting my preference for the Over.

By the way, back on 4/28, I got Kevin O'Connell at 30-1 for AP Coach of the Year. He would have to be one of the clear front runners right now, wouldn't he? There's a long ways to go but it could still happen.

Sean Payton (Broncos) 20-1
Shane Steichen (Colts) 15-1

I could see it with a 1:00-1:25 start but a 5:15 start should get the lag out of them.

Of those 3, the Vikings have the most manageable schedule the rest of the way; if the Vikings win the games they SHOULD, it would be hard for O'Connell to NOT get it?

I looked at the remaining schedules for the Broncos and Washington; a lot could happen obviously, but I'm thinking the best case scenario for both of them is 8-10 wins. I don't know that a record like that gets it done, even if it's more earned than O'Connell, but who knows.

With the Broncos defense, if Nix improves more and more and more every week, the offense shows some life, they could go on a run but they have too many tough games; two against the Chiefs, at Baltimore, at Cincinnati, at the Chargers could be tough; not sure.

For O'Connell to win it, I think the Vikings have to probably go 13-4 or better; possible, but not a lot of room for errors.

If Detroit comes in with the #1 seed, especially when he was a close bridesmaid last year, the voters are going to want to give it to Campbell because Detroit has been shitty for so long. Part sympathy vote, part merit.

I've been trying to tell everyone, but the resistance has been quite funny.

Up and down the field these teams go.

This rams offense blows. I know they have a couple of guys back, but we have major, major, problems defensively.
