All Things 2024-25 Vikings Regular Season Thread

heard Doogie proclaim this as the most important regular season game in the history of the franchise.

look - I know it's been a few years, but we're talking about a franchise that has played in 4 Super Bowls.

in the team's history -
32 playoff appearances
21 Division Championships
4 Conference Championships
1 NFL Championship (1969 - pre 1970 AFL-NFL merger)

from 1968 to 1980, 11 playoff appearances in 13 seasons.
since 1968, longest playoff drought is 4 seasons (83, 84, 85, 86).

in short, a very successful franchise - as successful as one can be without winning a Super Bowl.

Yes, it has been a very good season. but the freakin' hype is getting over the top.
What exactly is your point? He said REGULAR SEASON game. You didn't say anything to dispute that, and it's really hard to argue that it isn't.

I didn't expect everyone would get it.

Yes, absolutely. I don't think the market for Darnold will be as robust as some think. Of the teams who need a QB; some will want a drafted rookie, some aren't running the right offense, some simply don't have the cap space, and some will just be leery of the past failures. If the Vikings want to keep him, it's not like they are going to be competing with 4-5 teams.
Fowler also said, based on his reporting, he doesn’t envision the Vikes tagging Darnold, as the $41M is too steep, based on how they want to proceed.

Agree that it’s not going to be the Vikes against the whole of the NFL to sign him either, as I’m sure there are some teams, Giants & Raiders, two dysfunctional teams at present who are QB hunting, who aren’t contenders anytime soon, would be seriously considered after his Jets/Panthers experiences.

Except the Contact extension talks with the coach will happen this offseason as confirm by Mark Wilf.

Read something in The Athletic that they wanted to see more evidence that KOc and Kwesi were the right for for the long haul; nice to be worth a reported $1.3B, you can be patient and make sure before you pull the trigger on a deal.

I think the shortest list of all is the list of teams that need a QB that Darnold would want to sign with.

I’m assuming if we lose we’d rather play Atlanta than Tampa. Tampa losing right now, Atlanta tied.

Jordan Love got hurt for GB.

I get you're being be sarcastic here.
Just as I was when I said what if Sammy wins us a SB - it’s so improbable, that every time I think of it, I chuckle.

I think it actually will happen, but it still feels like I’m going to wake up at any moment and we’re 8-8.
TBH, I reacted to being told I needed to relax and to being told that I wasn't enjoying the season.
Ii was meant as a friendly reminder to bask in what KIC & Company have wrought.
Maybe I overreacted to bring told that? I don't know.
Thanks and no worries, as I can be a bit of forum monitor sometimes and prone to being too thin skinned (as you correctly noted in your previous post)= My Bad.

Enjoy the game.
I will👍 and you too👍.

My 86 year old Mom’s fired up in Hibbing😃

Any parlay tips for the Vikes? besides don’t play them?

Gophers won me $250 in bonus bets and I still have some left to wager

Jay Glazer put this out there on Fox this morning, several teams will be looking to possibly trade for KOC as he enters the final year of his contract and the Vikings have yet to have extension talks with him.
The over/under on Kwesi hanging up the phone: 3.5 seconds.

The 1998 MNF game against the Packers in Lambeau, ranks up there. Green Bay at the time was 2 time defending NFC Champions.

The 2009 MNF game also against the Packers in the HHH Dome was huge with Favre under center for the Purple.

Those are at least in the ballpark.

Tonight's loser is still in the Tournament and both have stellar road records, this is by no means an elimination game.

Having said all that, pretty huge stakes tonight at Ford Field. Probably #1.

I agree, except that this year I have season long prop bets on both the Raiders and the Bears Losing all of their division games. The Raiders, I feel pretty good about; 0-5 and a final game at home against the Chargers to close things out. The Bears? The Bears could f*ck up and win one of these final 3 games they have, AT Minnesota, Home Detroit, AT Green Bay

This is going to be one interesting offseason for the Vikings, one that will probably set the course for the franchise moving forward for a while. The beauty is, none of us REALLY know what the powers that be think about JJ McCarthy, Sam Darnold, or even Daniel Jones; or more importantly, what they will be thinking of those three next March.

One thing I do know is, they really have no clue what kind of pro JJ McCarthy is going to be. Zero. Can't wait to see what the QB roster looks like come next August 1.
Ouch.😥

The 1998 game became bigger in hindsight once we rolled to 15-1.

Mayo gets canned an hour after winning the game causing NE to fall from #1 to #4 in the Draft. Say goodbye to Hunter.

More to it but interesting timing.

There’s no chance the Vikings win. The losing team will play next Monday night which of the 6 time slots is the only time I cannot watch. Happens every time.

It seems like defensively we’re either super aggressive on defense or very conservative. Little in between.
