All Things 2024/25 College Football Transfer Portal Thread

Great list. Wow. There's a guy or two on this forum that call D3 football glorified high school. Lol. The best teams always have multiple players that could play at higher levels.
That would be me. D3 is closer to HS than it is to say FCS. It can be fun to watch because you have equal talent levels competing against each other. See St. Thomas trying to transition its not going real well. Big step. Even some really good St. Thomas teams that I watched back in the early 2010s several of their star players had transferred from D2. Even the step from D3 to D2 is significant. It’s a nice little spot for kids that are generally either too slow or too weak or just not that good to have a place to play football for another four years.

St. Thomas is 26-6 conference and 31-13 overall since moving to FCS and recruiting to a team that can't play post season.

We beat Edwards last year when he was at MD. Hope we get the same result this coming season.
Didn't just beat him, we beat the crap out of him, picked him off twice, and didn't allow a passing TD to him. It was wonderful. Next year he comes to the Bank again with Wiscy and I expect similar results.

This kid would never beat him out — no rage just amused by the thought of a Bethel kid out there with Perich with Brown and crew here.
Yet, I never said this kid would beat out Perich or Brown, did I?

They can't share the field? Perich and Brown haven't slipped up to LB for a few plays? We never have injuries?

If you don't like the kid because you don't think he's skilled, fair enough. I've never seen him play, either. At 6'3 215#, great ball skills and instincts, adequate wheels and a true defensive playmaker, he's worth giving a hard look.

If you simply don't want him because he's D3 and make assumptions, that's poor judgement and flat out lazy, sir.

B

How about non-conference record and total points for and against during same.
Got beat bad by a D2 Sioux Falls team in first game by 21
Lost by 7 to Northern Iowa
Beat a D2 team
Lost to another Lindenwood 64-0

They were down this year (6-6) and went 5-3/1-3

Last year 8-3/7-1 with losses to South Dakota and Harvard in non conference

2022 10-1/8-0 with loss to Southern Utah

2021 7-3/6-2 with loss to Northern Iowa.

Their non-conference doesn't really matter as they get auto bid to win conference.

They really are a non factor in anything Gophers, unlike basketball.

Lol. You do realize that D3 teams won over 40% of their games against D2 teams going to back to 2021, right? Almost half. D2 is glorified D3 because the scholarships are partial and most D2 are hyphenated state schools that give very little financial aid unlike most D3. The step for D2 to full scholarship FCS is large.

Playing against other teams that don't offer scholarships as well. They aren't doing that well against FCS or DII schools that offer scholarships - got blown out by Sioux Falls, for example. The Pioneer League is not much better than D3 in football when not offering scholarships. As they demonstrated in their transition, the best D3 programs would do really well in the Pioneer League.

Bethel Kid just committed to Wisconsin. Dudes are everywhere regardless of the level they are at. Also dogshit players are everywhere regardless of the level they are at.

Whisky also lost another cb, Xavier Lucas. Arguably their best true freshman this past season.

I agree, would have been a nice fit for Cody. K-State has something going on, in a conference where it’s probably a better chance to make the playoffs vs the BiG if you are going to transfer to a “not sure thing” team from a Blue Blood.

OK, the only position I’m worried about going into next year is now officially LB. Maverick is a good wingman but if we go into the season with him as our BigDog, I think we’ll have issues. I don’t think Williams will ever be particularly good, Gerlach seems to have an issue putting on weight might even switch over to Henderson spot and all we have is youngsters after that. Hopefully the youngsters are rocksolid and or in PJ we trust he’s a portal guru and we’ve got another crack at it come spring.

Maybe Abilene Christian has another Gibbens for us.

This isn’t a question of the right teams not being chosen. It’s that most years the 9-12 teams are not on par with the beat 3 or 4. Fun to have them get in but they are almost always going to be outmatched. This isn’t basketball where a team can win in any given day with a hot hand.

QB Tayven Jackson enters the portal for Indiana. I assume he was slated to start for them next year. Could be back to reality for that program.
