All Things 2024-25 College Basketball Other Games Thread

Anyone see the New Mexico vs Nevada game last night? It was a fun game that went to OT. Refs tried hard to give Nevada the win, but NM made a crazy scramble basket with less than 1 second to win by one.

The announcers mentioned that Pitino's team plays with the fastest pace in college ball. It was a nice change from the plodding behemoth pace of Gopher ball.
It was a classic Richard Pitino offensive set: Chaotic.

South Florida beats Wichita State by 19 at Wichita. Doing their best Missouri impersonation from last year. They stink.

Nebraska handling Iowa so far. They are starting to look like a team to be dealt with.

Florida beats Tennessee by 30. What's the most #1 has ever lost by?

Would the Gophers have stayed within 30 if they'd beaten Wichita?

I'll post this quick and then duck.

St. Thomas men are playing South Dakota State tonight. the game is on Fox 9+ on TV. depending on where you live, you can get it over the air, on cable/satellite or streaming.

top two teams in the Summit. St. Thomas 12-5 on the season; SDSU is 10-6.

I plan to check out at least the first half to see what it looks like.

SDSU roster includes Matthew Mors. He was a star in HS in South Dakota. went to Wisconsin, didn't play much so transferred to SDSU. came off the bench last year. He's from Yankton, and the owners of my former radio station are from Yankton, so I heard about this kid endlessly.

Michigan had an interesting game against UCLA last night, going up 18 in the first half. In the second, they gave away the lead to go down five only to surge back and win by 19.
The thing I take from Michigan is that if you get the right coach, you can quickly build a good team after having had a substandard coach.

Danny Wolf probably makes more than our entire roster combined.

here's an odd one:

two games (men's and women's) are being played tonight in Richmond, VA with no fans in attendance.

A winter storm led to a power outage that caused the city's water reservoir system to fail. parts of the city still have no running water and all residents have been advised to boil water before using it.

so - the men's game with Fordham at Virginia Commenwealth tonight and the women's game with George Mason at Richmond will be played with no fans in the buildings. both games will be on ESPN+.

Currently watching Bradley at home against Drake. Two really good teams in a very underrated conference. Good basketball on both ends and both teams tend to execute and if they don't, their coach let's them know about it

St. Thomas wins 73-72 on 2 FT with 0:13 left. pretty physical game. SDSU much stronger inside - outrebounded the Tommies 47-25, but St. Thomas hit 13 3pt shots to 8 for SDSU.
Clearly the best two teams in the Summit League.

Banger of a game. The Tommies are a wagon right now. They know how to play, and compete.

I know I know wrong forum/wrong place. However, our lady Gopher are 16-1 now after last nights blowout of Rutgers. CONGRATS to the ladies!!!!!

College of Charleston killing it this year at 12-3 (2-0) currently lead Hofstra 55-46. Their coach is Chris Mack who they just hired in April of last year.
He should 100% be on the short list. Did fine at Xavier (which Travis Steele and Ben Johnson proved is not a given) and then would have been two for two in NCAA bids at Louisville if not for Covid. Then got derailed the the "scandal" with Guadio.

Michigan State beat Washington by 34 tonight... Washington had one point at the 11-minute mark of the first half. We have Washington at home Feb. 1 🤞
