All Things 2023 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

Somewhere Mike Zimmer is drinking red wine and cursing cause he had Josh Dobbs in teddy bridgewater and it was taken away from him.

Cardinals got beat 27-0 and traded a QB to the Vikings for a 6th round draft pick.

Can’t fix stupid.

Kyler Murray will more than likely be back next week or the following week, and ultimately they had to give their rookie Clayton Tune some PT. Unfortunate that it was on the road against arguably the NFL's best defense, but at least Tune got to play.

It was a good move for both teams, that happens sometimes

This offensive line was garbage today. The pass blocking was bad and the run blocking was putrid.

They were stacking the box, but still...............................................

We've been averaging 22 points per game and got in the 30's today. I wonder how many we put up with cousins back there......and I like cousins.

Being able to run and avoid pressure is so huge in today's game.

Amazing stats by the D -

The Vikings 11 forced fumbles through nine games are their most since forcing 13 in the first nine games of the 2009 season. Minnesota has now recorded four games with at least one forced fumble and one interception. That mark is tied for the second most in the league this season.

This is a damn good team.

Bandwagon is currently in the shop, up on the lift. New axel and wheels being finished right now.

I will give you all a free pass to get back on.

I still think we have some cowards amongst us, though.

Half the team is injured, QB doesn't know the play terminology, and yet KOC doesn't go all conservative and hand the ball off to Mattison 40 times. He lets the players play and he runs (largely) his standard offense throughout the entire game. Dobbs makes mistakes with the fumbles and safety, yet KOC doesn't go into turtle mode and lets him keep playing...after that Gophers debacle, that was really fun and refreshing to watch.

Yep. Vikings so much more fun to watch than Gophers.

Sad but true, seeing CFB usually tends to have a more side open reputation for offense.

Not sure, however it may have helped Dobb knowing that he wasn't starting. He was able to concentrate on learning the plays and terminology that the Vikings use. No time to get nervous knowing that he was starting, learning all the plays, and meeting teammates.

Yes he made mistakes. Who wouldn't have in this situation?

Still not a fan of him on the LOS, not covering anyone, but in a 2-point stance.

Silly. Get his hand in the dirt and let him do what he does.

On the Tony Kornheiser podcast today a guest shared this story about the late night axe falling.

On Tuesday/Halloween, Josh McDaniels came in dressed up as Mark Davis. The Owner appeared to take it in stride, and played along.

For dinner Davis brought in Chinese food. Josh's fortune cookie said, "You're Fired!", take that hotshot.

I so want it to be true, not urban legend.
To my dismay, this story has been debunked.

Fake news.

As much as losing Akers seems crappy, if we can get Mattison more involved via passing, we still have plenty of weapons especially now with Dobbs running threat.

Teams will be ready for him now, tape on his play, etc. But hopefully can keep it rolling (Captain Obvious).

Hoping with JJ, Kirko, and Akers, we’ve now reach our quota of bad injury luck for the seasons and the football gods will stop being jagoffs. We’ll see

Hope Darrisaw and KJ are back. Hope defense can stay healthy.

Every team is losing players every week, not just Vikings. How it goes, war of attrition

Rumblings on PTI the Belicheck won’t be back in NE next year - thinking Harbaugh’s gonna bail to Chicago and can see Bill in SD w/Herbert.

Not exactly breaking news for The Athletic’s midseason assessment of the Vikes -

Danielle Hunter’s performance will make his contract situation even more difficult: Defensive coordinator Brian Flores spent a couple of minutes Tuesday gushing about Hunter. The praise spoke to a looming concern. Hunter’s contract is up after this season, and his restructured deal features verbiage that removes the possibility of the franchise tag.

Given Hunter’s performance — he leads the NFL with 10 sacks, ranks 19th among edge rushers in pressures (35) and is third in defensive stops (30) — the 29-year-old is in for a hefty payday, will they have the money to keep Hunter?
