All Things 2023-2024 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

So - do Wolves players make any comments on the ownership "situation?" If they're smart, they'll say "no comment."

Timberwolves over Denver 111-98. Wolves back in 1st place in the Western Conference.

Good win. Hope that Naz iz okay. He kept playing after landing on his wrist, but that 2-12 shooting, and 0-8 from 3 probably means it hurt more than he let on.

he landed on his wrist late.......he had a brutal shooting night before landing on his wrist.

Naz and Ant were a combined 0 for 13 from three, yet they blew the Nuggets out. If you would have told they'd be 0 of 13 before the game, I may have passed on watching.

It is very impressive what they did last night.

The wolves had nothing going offensively in the second half last night. So the script was for Denver to come roaring back and take the game.

Didn't happen.

The wolves crushed Denver with defense. Impressive as hell.

Then Finch was asked how the ownership situation might affect his team.

"If there was ever a definition above your paygrade, this is it," Finch said. "For us, it's business as usual. I also feel the players will feel the same way.".

The Wolves won thanks to stingy defense against a Denver team that was without point guard Jamal Murray (knee) for the fourth game in a row. They also got efficient offensive performances from Jaden McDaniels (17 points, 7-for-10 shooting), Mike Conley (23 points, 8-for-12) and Rudy Gobert (21 points, 7-for-8).

"They're the defending champs, but we got all the pieces," McDaniels said. "Everyone on our team is versatile and can guard 1 through 4, 1 through 5. It's a good matchup for us, but I think we're the better team."..

The Wolves also went the entire first half without committing a turnover, which elicited laughs and smiles when players and Finch if they thought this turnover-prone team was capable of such a feat. The Wolves haven't done that in a first half since 2005, per the team.

"Did we do that? No way," Conley said.

Added Gobert: "If you had asked me that a couple months ago, I would've been surprised. But as of lately, the growth that we have here, especially Anthony Edwards — the last few games, we had a few halves, like two, three turnovers. So, why not zero?"

Teammates credit Edwards, who played through back spasms, with making the right reads as Denver was crowding him early..

The Wolves opted to start Naz Reid again in the 4 spot, and Reid spent a significant amount of time guarding Jokic one-on-one as the Wolves deployed Gobert as a rim protector and help defender, the way they prefer to defend the Nuggets.

Reid struggled offensively (seven points, 2-for-12), but his teammates gave him major kudos for the job he did holding down the fort against Jokic, the two-time NBA MVP. That's a matchup Reid hasn't had to take on much in his career, like last season, when he missed the playoff series against Denver because of left wrist surgery.

"He did a great job," Conley said. "Got a couple fouls and got discouraged, but we were like, 'Man, you're doing a great job. That's Jokic, man. He's going to get those. He's going to score.' Just proud that he was able to keep his head in the game and stay focused on the next play."..

Lots of blame to go around, but this is one of those games where it is frustrating watching McDaniels. He was horrible.

True but don't forget about Ant. He was brutal. Chicago packed the lane because the Wolves outside shooting was awful. Did that stop Edwards from driving into a jam packed lane? Of course not. Was he fouled doing that without getting any free throws? Way more often than not.

The team had only 13 turnovers. Decent night except Edwards had 6 of them. There wasn't an ill advised pass that he didn't try and make. Even SloMo has cut back some on his idiotic passing but not Edwards.

Ant also took five 3's but didn't hit a single one. The Wolves hit 11 of their 37 3's. The Bulls hit 17 of 29. That was more than enough margin to guarantee a Chicago win.

That said it was a team loss. They were terrible from the get go. They had a nice run in the 4th, even hit some 3's but nowhere near enough. Heck, the Wolves largest lead of the night was 3 points.

Any win they get should be a surprise until they get KAT back. Towns won't be back until the playoff starts and a hurting Edwards refuses to sit and get better. Or maybe a few days rest won't help.

Either way he's been bad more he's been good lately and they've got a back to back against Houston and the Raptors Tuesday and Wednesday. Followed by the Suns and the Lakers.

Any win should be a surprise until they get KAT back? They're 8-4 without him, the 4 losses came to playoff teams, and in 2 of them they didn't have Gobert.

Two of those losses came to Denver and Cleveland, who they also beat over the same time period without KAT.

Hey Troll! You got them going 8-0 the rest of the way?

That said the post was about last night's game. What did you think about the game? Still think they didn't need more shooting? You seem to have faded a little on that.

That said how much do you have them beating the Rockets, Raptors and Suns by?

You're so insecure it's amazing. You can't handle data that goes against your wrong opinion so you resort to name calling. I'm one of the few people who has defended this team the entire season.

They stunk last night, it happens. It had nothing to do with not having Towns. They also played possibly their best game of the year, without Towns, Friday night and dominated Denver.

But now they can't win without Towns? 8-4 (despite multiple other injures), but they are lucky to win without Towns? Give me a break.

This team will be just fine with, or without Towns, as they have been all season.

But sure, freak out over one game.

You're amazing

Thank you.

It's not name calling. You're a troll. Trolls take out something from a post and ignore the rest and never admit they're wrong. Trolling can be fun specially coming from the most thin skinned guy on here.

Any game they win without Towns should be a surprise. Mainly because their shooting can be so bad. Been saying the same thing since he went down. Why that offends a guy who spent weeks saying they didn't need any more shooters is odd but consistent.

Notice you've quit beating that drum too.

Even though "after the fact" is your go to move, how many will they win the rest of the way?

I took the most ridiculous statement out of your post and responded to it. Thanks for doubling down on that ridiculous and wrong statement again.

It's not a surprise when they win without Towns. They do it regularly. They would likely be even better than 8-4 during that span if Gobert and Naz weren't also injured.

They're the 3rd best 3 point shooting team in the league. Why do you ignore that? I said they will win with their core if they grow up, and that is the truth.

But keep ignoring data and keep freaking out over one bad game. Boston just lost back to back to a worse Atlanta team. Any games they win for the rest of the season will be a surprise according to your backwards logic.

I took the most ridiculous statement out of your post and responded to it. :blah::blah::blah::blah::blah:

It's a surprise when they win without KAT. That's what most national commentators are saying too. Why you take that to mean that they won't win any of them is just trolling

So how many games do you have them winning the rest of the way? And which ones?

Wait, now I get it. It's April Fool's Day and you're just playing along!

Well played. :drink:

It's not a surprise when they win without KAT. They do it the majority of the time.

They will win enough to be one of the top 3 seeds in the playoffs, and make a serious run at a NBA championship. That's all that matters.

Forgot the part where you tell us how many of the last 8 you have them winning.

Forgot the part where you tell us how many of the last 8 you have them winning.

Why does that matter so much to you? They will win more than they lose, which according to you they will be lucky to do without Towns. Sorry for so much optimism.

Obviously you must have them losing most of the rest of the games. Sounds like something a troll would say.

So you have them going 5-3. At least you are on record. Don't know why you were so terrified of stated that.

So you have them going at best 3-5. At least you are on record, and those 3 wins will be a surprise without KAT.
