Not sure that’s true. Betting is an addiction for people like smoking and alcohol. Plus you can’t watch a nfl game without seeing the Ceaser’s commercial 40 times a game. The NFL has the most perfect product ever to exist with fantasy football and betting.

That's exactly why the officiating matters and why the NFL cares about getting the calls correct. If the integrity is diminished then the gravy train from all the betting/gaming is also reduced.

Note the quotes from Roger Goodell.

Yeah he talked about not having improper influence in the game. To me that’s refs being bought for and outcomes decided. That’s not the competition committee sitting in a room at a 5 star hotel watching plays in slow motion and making terribly arbitrary and nuanced rules.

Kirk best not take more than 3 seconds to get up if he gets knocked down or they'll "both sides" us.

I forgot in the 3rd quarter the Bears went for an onside kick, but failed. Wound up not hurting them at all when they blocked the Viking FG.

That type risk taking, leads me to believe more likely than not they would have gone for 2 had they scored a TD on their last offensive possession.

Anytime you're on the road as a TD underdog, you go for 2 if there's less than a minute left IMO. The Raiders did it on Monday with about 4 minutes left which was questionable.

If a team has an above average defense and decent FG kicker, I think kicking the 1 Pt is reasonable, but certainly wouldn't question going for 2.

Now that the 1 Pt Conversion is moved back 15 yds, and not necessarily as automatic, I think it is logical to go for it more often.

Having said that, the Raiders move seemed silly. If they convert with that much time against the Chiefs, they were going to go all out (including on 4th down) to go back and score, either TD or FG.

They were fortunate they got the ball back.
 








The Jets put up 40 points against this defense last week.
 


Naturally we miss an extra point. Again. sigh.
