Moronic play by Smith Marsett. Could have gone out of bounds. Hands the Vikings the game.

I respectfully disagree. Poorly coached teams aren’t typically clutch in the 4th quarter making the plays when they need to in order to win the game. See Nebraska the last five years. The Vikes aren’t great but you can’t argue they haven’t been clutch in the 4th.

Probably an over reaction by myself but they definitely are poorly coached, especially on defense.
 



I just saw the worst roughing the passer called in Brady’s favor. Atlanta should have the ball with a chance to win.

there is something in the DNA of the NFL. all games must come down to the last 2 minutes.

in the end, winning matters. the route may be questionable, but everything is fine as long as you arrive at the right destination.

They have literally nothing on defense. NOTHING.

The secondary is old and slow as shit. The staff knows this, too. Peterson and Harrison can be embarrassing at times. Dantzler is below average, also.

Gawd, Hicks and Kendricks don't exist. They make some tackles, but it's all downfield. Kendricks is just invisible.

The defensive tackles routinely get blown out. Zadarius and Hunter have been a disappointment.

The talent on this defense blows. It's almost horrific.

They are trying to hide everyone. That's not to say the defensive coordinator is not worthless.

They continue to drop our two best pass rushers into coverage. The team is not built for the 3-4 and it’s obvious.

The talent isn’t great but coaches are not putting them in the best situations to be successful either.

Come on, now... that's a bit of a stretch. The Vikings were ahead by seven when that play occurred. The best the Bears could have done had they (eventually) scored on that drive is send it to overtime, or win it on a risky 2 point conversion attempt.

Sometimes, but when they rush them, they aren't getting there.

Yes. It still ended the game when they would have been in a good spot if he'd just gone out of bounds right away.

Do you really think the Bears would have had a likely win if Smith-Marsette goes out of bounds there?

Come on, man. The Vikings were ahead by seven. The Bears odds of winning at that point were pretty small, even if the Vikings defensive back doesn't strip him of the ball.

And — by the way — that was a helluva defensive play. Credit to the winners, please.

I think there was a 50% chance they were going to score and 50% chance they'd make a 2 point conversion. So about 25% chance of a bears win. He took it to zero with his bone headed play.

Yes it was a good play by Dantzler, but ISM had a clear chance to get out of bounds right after he caught it.
 



I agree with others that say our bad defense is more of a talent issue than a coaching issue. Although the coaching could use improvement as well.

KAM's first draft has been very disappointing so far. It looks a lot like Spielman's last draft, maybe worse. He put an emphasis on drafting speed on defense, yet none of the rookies can get on the field for a defense that severely lacks speed.
 

How awesome is it to have a QB like Kirk Cousins?!?!? Woo Hoo!!!

All kidding aside, thought it would be interesting to see, for all those who continually argue the Vikings should tank for a high first round QB draft pick, the success rate of top-15 QB draft picks in recent years

2021
1- Trevor Lawrence - Jury still out, but the tools are there
2- Zach Wilson - It could get better, but not off to a great start
3 - Trey Lance - At this point, it would be hard to be very optimistic about Lance; ooooffff
11 - Justin Fields - Pretty much a train wreck, I'd be surprised if the Bears aren't drafting a QB next spring

2020
1 - Joe Burrow - Even with a bad O-Line, dude takes way too many sacks that are on him, but he looks like a good one
5 - Tua T - Jury still out; accurate, but struggles to throw the ball downfield, from the pocket
6 - Justin Herbert - Looks like the best of the recent bunch, for sure; has everything you want

2019
1 - Kyler Murray - The more data comes in, the more it's hard to see him successful long term; poor leadership, poor body language, small frame, not durable
6 - Daniel Jones - I'm higher on Jones than most, but he's a turnover machine; this will be his last year to "prove it"
15 - Dwayne Haskins - I don't know that there's much to say about Haskins

2018
1 - Baker Mayfield - Just not sure he's going stick, definitely a bottom-10 QB
3 - Sam Darnold - His ship has just about sailed
7 - Josh Allen - Definitely a rockstar, just about everything you're looking for in a QB
10 - Josh Rosen - enough said...

2017
2 - MVP Mitch Trubisky - Terrible for #2 overall
10 - Pat Mahomes - One of the best in the league, great pick
12 - Deshaun Watson - With the great talent has come some pretty hefty baggage, he could still be great for a number of years, but with a cost for sure

2016
1 - Jared Goff - Definitely not what you want from a #1 overall pick, struggling on his 2nd team
2 - Carson Wentz - Not much more to be said about Wentz

I would take Burrow, Herbert, Allen, Mahomes, Murray, and probably Lawrence over Cousins. So 6 for sure, and I'd probably take Watson too despite all of the baggage.

I get that Murray is a headcase, but we've seen headcase QBs win at a high level before. He has talent that most other QBs don't have. He also has a pretty poor WR group when Hopkins has been out, but when Hopkins plays, that offense is hard to stop. Good thing Hopkins returns the week before the Vikings plays them...

I also don't get the 'not durable' comment. He's started 50 of 52 possible games in his career.

Allen, Mahomes, Herbert, and Burrow for sure.

Maybe Tua and Lawrence. Cousins is currently better, but those two have a chance to be better.

4 for sure, 2 maybes.

As far as the durable, he was dinged up just past the halfway point in each of the last two years, from which point the Cardinals spiraled downward dramatically. No more "Beep Beep". He became much easier to defend.

And he made that absolutely brutal play towards the end of yesterday's game against Philly, costing the Cardinals a much better chance to win or at least a much more makable FG attempt.

He's an enigma, no doubt. I'm pulling for him, the Cards invested a lot in him and he's fun to watch; just immensely talented, probably more talented than 25+ starters in the league; it's just everything else, the intangibles across the board, screams that he's just not a franchise QB.
 

There continues to be really poor takes like this. Yeah it appears that Smith is wide open. But watch the CB before Cousins releases the ball. He's getting depth. Of course the CB will no longer be getting depth after Cousins throws the ball short.

Cousins is never going to be a top 5 QB. But there's no reason for fans to continue to make up issues like this.

The int. he threw to Thielen was a similar play in that he had a receiver in the flat for a short gain, but opted to take the longer throw and got picked. He waited too long to make the throw to Adam, but I didn't have a problem with him looking there.

Can only assume it had something to do with landing with all his weight on the quarterback. What’s really sad is the turnover happened before the roughing the passer happened.

How the nfl people think these 300lb people are just supposed to stop instantly when they are running 5.2 40’s is stupid.
