All Things 2022 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Another great Free Agent pick up in terms of the Twins was Chili Davis. Professional hitter.

He really solidified the middle of the that '91 lineup.
I didn't realize he finished 14th in the AL MVP voting. There were 21 AL players that received votes that year. The Twins had 5 of those 21. Puckett, Davis, Erickson, Morris, and Aguilera.

Had to look it up on baseball reference. Got me looking at some of those years and then specifically Shane Mack's numbers. He was so underrated. I don't know why he didn't get more opportunities. He has a career OPS higher than guys like Paul Molitor and Rickey Henderson. Not saying he was as good as them but he sure was a damn good hitter.

I have to wonder why he went to Japan for two years after his time with the Twins.
It is criminal how underrated and forgotten Shane Mack is.

Sounds like they're bringing back the "ghost runner" in extra innings. I wish they would push it to the 12th or at least the 11th. I get not wanting 6 hour marathon games, but something like 75% of extra inning games ended in the 10th or 11th before.

Jack Morris was considered probably the best pitcher of the 80s when the Twins signed him in '91. It worked out pretty well.
Crazy thing about Morris is that he was coming off of a pretty bad 3 year stretch before he signed here. Then he had a good year here.

I envy people who love watching baseball. Season goes from April to October lol. That's crazy.

He never made an all-star game, but Shane Mack was all-star caliber player for multiple seasons.

Montas and Manaea both had their salaries finalized today in order to avoid arbitration. I assume that stuck a wrench in the works.
There's a rumor going around that OAK is now more inclined to hold on to both pitchers until closer to the trade deadline to potentially increase their return.

Have to pivot then. Have to get at least one more P

The Twins season is 181 days long.
The TWolves season is 172 days long.
The Wild's season is 196 days long.
The Wild/NHL season was inflated by 14-18 days in anticipation of an Olympic break, which was repurposed for making games postponed due to COVID.

Pivot to who? Johnny Cueto is about the only FA left.
Gonna have to get creative. Maybe buy low on a guy like Patrick Corbin. You want to trade, you're going to have to overpay at this point. I've wanted them to make a move for German Marquez from the Rockies for a long time, but since they decided to sign Bryant, I guess they aren't rebuilding.
