All Things 2022 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

Eew. J.A. Happ is available....

I prefer this list, easier to see who's left. It's beyond meager. They really should have brought Pineda back.

Gonna have to get creative. Maybe buy low on a guy like Patrick Corbin. You want to trade, you're going to have to overpay at this point. I've wanted them to make a move for German Marquez from the Rockies for a long time, but since they decided to sign Bryant, I guess they aren't rebuilding.
Sounds like the A's are still open to trading Manaea. I'd trade Miranda and pitcher not named Belezovich or Winder for him.

If I recall Happ had a good 1st quarter of the season or so last year. Not sure what cause his stock to go down. Pitching coach?

I’m sure Correa would welcome the addition of Fiers.

Go to Matt's. Skip the crap at the 5-8 Club.

I'll never understand some peoples infatuation with the 5-8 club. I gave it a few chances thinking the first may have just been a bad day, and thought it was average at best.

Matts, The Nook/Shamrocks, and the Blue Door are all superior to the 5-8.

Nicer place, and some people like that you can get a choice of cheese inside, unlike Matt's.

That said, Matt's all the way.

I was mainly trying to get a reaction from anyone. I actually do like Matt's better though...by a lot.

Racket wasted no time inquiring on the obvious follow-up Q that’s as burning as molten burger cheese: Where does Correa get his Jucy Lucys? Twins PR ace Dustin Morse quickly answered our frantic email.

“Matt’s, Shamrocks, and Hell’s Kitchen,” Morse informed us. “They are usually sent to the clubhouse, but he loves them.”

Wow.

For the Jucy Lucy ignorant, that’s iconic south Minneapolis dive Matt’s Bar, where Obama himself once housed a burger for political purposes; Shamrocks in St. Paul, a sister restaurant to respected Lucy joint The Nook; and Hell’s Kitchen, the downtown Minneapolis staple that was acquired by its own workers just before the pandemic.

Additional signs point to Correa, who was born and raised in Puerto Rico, already being the ultimate Minnesotan. Consider this 2015 tweet from the Minnesota State Fair:.

Duran is 25, Winder is 24, if they aren't going to trade for another SP, it's time to see what they can do.
I was obviously joking about Charlie and the Rays started 2 rookies IIRC last year in the WS, so I agree with being aggressive. I was/want another experienced arm as we have a second year guy in Ober and Ryan is technically a rookie still as he was under the innings required to lose his maiden.

I think TwinsDaily has an article speculating that the Twins could try to fill the 5th Starter role by juggling several of the younger guys - maybe try to "pair" two pitchers so they get 3 innings out of each one.

Sounds like Oakland may keep their pitchers into the season and try to deal them later.

Unless the Twins go for Cueto, or meet Oakland's asking price for Montas, that 5th spot in the rotation could be a season-long high-wire act.

Boo, Hiss, Boo - cheapskating instead of going for it.

The more I've thought about it, the more I'm ok with it. What are we waiting for with our top pitching prospects? Duran has been a top 5 prospect for years, he's 24. Winder has worked his way into the top 10 over the last two years, he's 25. You also have Balazovic who's close at 23. These guys are Berrios level prospects and he first came up when he was 22.

Barely anyone knew who Ober was before last season and now most are content with him being in the rotation. These guys are all more talented than him, it's time to see what they can do in the majors.
