All Things 2013 Bracketology Thread

Ha, Lunardi has has Wisky playing Davidson. Do I smell an upset if that stays true?

lol that would suck. Last time we played them in the tournament we got smoked, granted they had Steph Curry but still!

I really want a 11 or 12 seed. Going to be disappointed with a 9 or 10. If we some how manage to show up in the first game, I don't want to see a #1 or #2 seed in the 2nd round.

If we end up an 8 or 9 seed I sure hope it is in he zags bracket rather than the other #1 seeds

It really surprises me how little respect the Zags have been getting this year. It seems like a lot of it is people who haven't watched their games and assume they must be just a pretty good team dominating a weak conference. When you watch them, they look really good.

You are never going to get the respect you think you deserve when you play in a conference like that. And to be honest, you are not as good as you think you are. Why? Because the only mid major to win a national title in the last 46 years is UNLV.

Would you rather get the Zags or Duke, Indiana or Louisville? Not even close.

Gonzaga shouldn't get the same respect as those other three teams. They have only played 3 games against ranked teams this year. They lost two of them. lost to Butler on the road and lost to Illinois at home. They did beat 22nd ranked Oklahoma State.

Minnesota played 10 ranked teams this year and won 5 of those games. I am excited to see how we play in the tournament. go Gophers!

I'm not saying they should be the indisputable number one, I've just caught a couple of their games and if we get matched up against them I don't think I'm going to wipe my brow and say "at least its not one of the other one seeds." Heck, given our success against them in the last two years, I'd take Indiana over Gonzaga as a matchup.

I wouldn't mind an 11 seed but I would be very suprised if we go any lower than a #10 seed and more likely see us as a #9 or #8. If you think about it there realy isn't a huge difference in potential 2nd round opponents between playing a #1 or #2 seed when you factor in we won't be in Indiana or Dukes bracket and then there could be two more B1G teams as #2 seeds. Potential opponents would probably be Gonzaga, Louisville, Georgetown, Kansas, Miami, and maybe Syracuse or New Mexico having a shot to move up to a #2 and to me there isn't a whole lot of difference between any of those teams.

Gonzaga is just the most unknown of the top teams because they haven't played anyone. They very well may be as good as or even better than Indiana, Duke, Louisville, etc. but no one really knows.

I agee with you and I think this is the way most people are thinking when people talk about Gonzaga. I have watched Gonzaga a number of times and they have a very good team but when forced to pick between facing a team like them or Duke, Louisville, Georgetown, or Syracuse, and teams like that I would pick Gonzaga everytime just because they haven't been tested a whole lot this year while the other teams have been tested all season.

Lot's of assumptions that the Gophers even get in - To me, it feels like they will get discarded, to let other teams in.

The bubble sucks and the Gophers resume is superior to every bubble team.

Why? With this team they find a way to play to the level of competition mostly. I don't want to see them get to the sweet 16 just through getting by on easy draws. I want to see them win a big game against a big time team as they have proven they can already. If they were to win a big one like that and get their confidence...almost anything can happen with this bunch. At this point, they made their bed. If they are so fortunate as to get selected for the tournament (as seems inevitable) then it's show me time.

With all due respect (and I get your point)....I would LOVE to see them get to the sweet 16 regardless of who they beat to get there. Hell, give me the 8/9 matchup followed by the first ever 16 to make the second round, I'll take it

Beeg, 10 or 11 seeds don't get to the Sweet 16 with easy draws. Yes, occasionally they could benefit from a 14/3 or 15/2 upset (89 and 90 Gophers) but they still have a tough first game at a minimum.

Which other teams? UVa who got smoked by 19 today? Or Kentucky who's currently getting smoked by Vandy? Which other teams do y'all want in ahead of our terrible, rotten Gophers?

Iowa is up 10 on Michigan State. What happens with the Gophers if Iowa wins tonight? Does Iowa still not get in (assuming they lose next round) or do they get in and take our spot, or do we both get in....8 from the Big Ten?

That's the game that is worrying me. I think the Spartans come back though- nothing went their way, but they are playing hard. An Iowa win makes it just a little dicier for the Gophers in my opinion.

Yeah I totally agree.

MSU not playing well though. Damn I wish we had won vs. Illinois.

Iowa is playing with energy and passion.....like MN needed to do vs. Illinois. MSU looks like they are asleep.

Iowa Will need to maKe it to Sunday to get in. If they do BIG will have 8 teams in tourney plain and simple. Best conference in the country.

Who is this play by play guy doing this Big 10 game? I love this guy!!!

For those who are watching this Iowa/MSU game- this is what passion looks like, in case Gopher fans have forgotten. Both teams laying it all out there.

Iowa choking another one away, kind of feel bad....... no not really.
