Vaughn is coming off a recent official to Iowa State and said he also plans to trip to North Carolina at some point.

“I’m still deciding on the last two,” Vaughn told SNY.tv recently, referring to his other two official visits. “I’ll probably trim it sometime, I don’t know when.”

He is also considering Arizona, Minnesota, Baylor and Kansas.

Go Gophers!!

Sounds like he will use both. I'm hoping for MN to get one and I'd guess Kansas the other.

"I've got a UNLV visit next week and I just set a visit to North Carolina (the weekend of February 15th) when they play Pittsburgh," he said. "I'll probably take my last two visits at some point, but I'm still deciding with my family. I'll probably narrow down my list in the next couple weeks, to maybe four or five."

It's from a pay article on Cyclone Report.

Well at least he got to see Illinois beat UNLV and UNLV only scoring in the 50s. That can't hurt.

I didn't see Vaughn at the game last night but as I said in the other thread, he was supposed to be sitting in the opposite corner of where I was sitting.

I saw about 4-6 students with relatively small "Rashad Vaughn to Vegas" roll up banners last night but other than that there was no hoopla for him being there. They may have given out a lot more of those banners and most students just plain didn't know who he was. The student section is close enough to where he was sitting that I'm sure he saw them but it certainly wasn't what I would call a red carpet welcome for a major recruit.

Very happy to see UNLV go down to Illinois last night, especially with Vaughn in attendance. It was a decent crowd at the Mack though, pretty decent atmosphere for a game two days before Thanksgiving. I thought UNLV was lucky to not get blown out last night. As usual, some major home cooking at the Mack for UNLV (UNLV had all of TWO fouls in the second half?) and Illinois missed a TON of wide open 3-pointers that I'm sure they normally knock down.

Can't imagine UNLV is all that attractive right now, sitting at 2-3 I believe. I would hope Vaughn would look at two major things when eliminating UNLV from the running: (1)UNLV is almost NEVER on national TV, especially when they hit conference play (although these last two games have been on TV, they were against BCS teams though); (2) their best or highest profile games are nonconference teams every year. Same reason I have come very close but have never bought season tickets for the Rebels; looking at the schedule and seeing Wyoming, Boise State, Colorado St, et al every year just isn't that appealing. Sure, the #1 overall pick last year (Anthony Bennett) came from UNLV but it was a HISTORICALLY bad draft.

Just no way I see him staying in Vegas...

and he's looking like a historically bad first pick at the moment. http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/2991473/anthony-bennett

When was the last time we heard anything regarding Minnesota with Vaughn. Just feels like we aren't in the picture any more.

Really though. There's been no Gophers mention this fall from him and his camp. Gotta wonder if he's even looking at Minnesota anymore.

per Rush the Court:

Rashad Vaughn: The Top Remaining Guard

Five-star shooting guard Rashad Vaughn is ranked the No. 13 prospect in the country, but when it comes to uncommitted guards in the class of 2014 he is the at the top of the board. The 6’5” Vaughn is listed as the second-best shooting guard in the country behind Seton Hall signee Isaiah Whitehead (#12 overall, #1 SG), and is looking to make a college decision sometime in the spring. Right now Iowa State and UNLV are the presumed leaders with Vaughn having visited both schools in November. Other schools are in the mix, including North Carolina, which was originally scheduled to receive a visit in September, but was recently re-scheduled for the weekend of February 15.

Go Gophers!!

No mention of Minnesota in weeks, no official visit scheduled, I have a bad feeling. I hope he comes home for xmas and realizes how much he misses his hometown.

I follow Rashad on Twitter. He re-tweeted an ISU player today. Interesting...

he also retweeted some kid saying he wants him to come to North carolina for xmas. i wouldn't read into it too heavily.

Vaughn is looking at taking a visit to Kentucky, they are back in the race.

Good timing on your question as I just spoke with Rashad Vaughn last night. Vaughn, who said he has no timetable for a final decision, is one of the few difference makers left on the board and he has been playing not only at a high level but efficiently as well. In November, he visited Iowa State and UNLV and enjoyed both visits. He recently set up a visit to North Carolina for the weekend of February 15 when the Tar Heels host Pittsburgh and that would be his third official visit. Kentucky has jumped back in the race and the Wildcats are trying to get him on an official visit. He told me he plans on visiting Kentucky, but has not set up anything yet. If he visits there, that would leave him with one remaining visit with four schools left on his list. Arizona, Baylor, Kansas and Minnesota all pushing for that last visit.

Sorry guys, but my gut says that Vaughn has no interest in playing for the Gophers. This is feeling a lot like the situation with Tyus, where we technically were on his "last 4" but there was no chance of him coming here.

Good chance Rashad goes elsewhere, but I don't think this is at all the same as the Tyus situation. Still hope for the Gophers even if we aren't currently leading.

I have thought we've had zero chance at Vaughn for months.

Yeah, I think we can put this thread on ice. I think Pitino will still try and stage a late push, but it won't be enough.

Too bad. I thought we had a good in on him. I think he knows he'd develop well here, so I wonder what all is driving his aversion to the Gophers. Anybody with insight?

yeah, unfortunately he seems very disinterested in the Gophers. Love the fact that we have so many hometown kids that just cant wait to leave. Sure hope in the coming years we have a 2015 class that can change that mind set.

Step away from the ledge, boys. He may very well choose a different school, but clearly none of us knows. I'm not sure I care what someone's gut tells them unless that gut is connected to Rashad Vaughn. I'm not saying I know anything, nor am I declaring what my gut thinks. Sorry. I just get a little Grinchy when it comes to overreactions (both pro and con) based on nothing.

Who said he has an aversion toward the Gophers? He hasn't mentioned us lately. Big deal. Keep the Gophers playing well, and he may decide he'd like to play the hometown hero role...or not. Either way, I'm going to do my best to stay level-headed about it.

It is what it is at this point. I'm hanging on hope considering it sounds like he's still deciding between Minnesota, Baylor, Arizona, and Kansas for that last official visit. If we can convince him to use it on Minnesota we still have a shot. I know it isn't likely, but maybe he'll be homesick in February and March and want a free trip home. Anything can happen then. If he doesn't use an official here I think we're out of it even though he's been on campus before.
