279 yards passing for Cupito on just 10 completions is not too bad. The guy with the best average yards per carry in the game was Maroney Barber Russell Pinnix Rhys Lloyd.

We've got a fun one for 62. No less than a special 62 yard field goal in a packed Metrodome by Chip Lohmiller to put the Gophers up over the Squawks 17-0 at half, just one week after beating Meat Chicken. November 22, 1986.


Unfortunately after a dominant first half, the Gophers would go on to lose this game in a way that characterized the UofM Metrodome experience. The game was memorable for a late-game penalty that allowed Iowa to kick a game-winning field goal after initially missing the attempt.

Had a chance to beat Michigan, Wisconsin & Iowa for the first time since 1967 (I believe) and blew it. Now that streak has 57 years…

Our first possession looked like a three & out but Rhys Lloyd scampered for the first down. Did we punt in the game? It was payback for the embarrassing loss at Toledo in 2001.
