2023 College Basketball Transfer Portal Watch Thread

Not sure if you're serious or not, but he was a solid player and if healthy will be a nice addition for wherever he lands.
I was joking....he'll be one of the top portal targets for a lot of blue bloods. Pre-season POTY, but sat out this season with injury. Averaged about 20 ppg the year before. He ain't coming here with Payne already set.

hmmm- we might have to be patient while this settles out.

It's tough to strike a balance between urgency and patience in this environment, particularly for a program in the current state of the Gophers. Leading programs probably can wait in anticipation of some highly regarded players entering later. I could see our coach wanting to seal the deal as soon as possible and get all the players here in time for summer workouts.

The blue bloods don't care if they already have someone if there's a better option. Ike is a better player than Payne for '23-'24, by a wide margin. He's not coming here anyway, but if he wanted to, bench Payne. That's life in the big time.

Estonia is cold.

A damp cold I would imagine. I've never been there but wouldn't mind visiting some day. The capital city, Tallinn, looks really cool and well preserved as it escaped most of the Eastern Front WWII destruction that occurred in some other parts of the country.

Off topic, but I visited Tallinn when I was a teen and they were still in the Soviet Union. It was July, and they're far enough north that the sun didn't really set. It's right on the Baltic Sea with great beaches and beautiful setting.

Carry on.

Trickle down? MM or LM move to D2 or D3 or retire? and Majors move to mid-majors?

I know you're joking, but it was a group educational trip through Europe, and we hit Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Kiev (which was the spelling back then), too, in addition to France and England. Tallinn was memorable.

I was kidding, but Director Hoover and Senator McCarthy still want to talk to you!

Pettiford or Yesefu from KU would fit here nicely! Also need Dawson to call Puff Johnson from unc, kid can really shoot it

Did Yesufu enter the portal? I was disappointed he was wasting away on their bench. Especially considering he transferred from Drake (who pulled a Minnesota on me and fell apart against the Press against Miami despite being 90% to win with 5 minutes left and an 8pt lead). The dude is so much fun to watch. Think he’d kill it here. Imagine if Yesufu and/or Liam were still on Drake. They’d have been a Top 20 team.

Pettiford would be better as a floor general getting everyone involved. Joseph, not so much. LOL Joseph doesn't have a problem getting his shot. I would love to see either of them here and keep in mind Joseph transfer to KU from Drake.

I'd imagine we have more than a decent shot here correct?

Very least he's the back up PG.

Absolutely worth taking. He would also be an older player. He played one year for Augustana SD in 2019, than sat out as a transfer in 2020, played in 2021, was a medical redshirt in 2022, then played a full year in 2023. Former South Dakota Mr. Basketball. Next year would be his 6th year in college so I would guess that he might play only one year although he would be eligible for two.

If we got this guy, Mitchell, and Jayden Taylor we would be set at guard next season.

He would definitely be an upgrade over what the Gophers ran off the bench this season. His leg injury was similiar to Teddy Bridgewater's. He immediately was rushed to Sioux Falls over fears that he could lose the leg. He doesn't have the explosion that he had pre-injury, but still shoots 40 + on threes and is a very intelligent player. Would definitely be a usable option coming off the bench
