the best teams in the NFL always seem to be built on draft picks. I'm not sure signing a bunch of free agents who just got fat on the big contract is the way to go. This isnt baseball, or even basketball. Spending big on FA provides no guarantees
I wouldn't discount Tampa beating Dallas. The Cowboys were dreadful yesterday against the Commandos, have lost already this year to the Bucs and do not play well on grass (as Jason Garrett pointed out last night).
I agree, but there literally is nowhere to go but up from being the worst team in the NFL. The smart play with the money would be to spread it around and build depth.
Totally agree. Go with youth, high upside guys that wont kill their cap. Players coming off their rookie contract. I dont have a great example, but Mattison comes to mind. (I dont like paying anything for RBs)
Yeah, our playoffs were the last 4 weeks. Worked out well for me. I did have quite a few starters sitting this weekend, but was able to pick up the pieces I needed from free agency. Jaguars D really helped me out the last 2 weeks.
Probably means the NFC championship in Philly, though.

They're on the right path, but I'm still not sold on Jared Goff. They strike me as a candidate to take a step back or at least plateau around 9-10 wins next year. The Vikings will almost certainly take a step back record-wise as well, so 10-7 might win the division.
He came back in after the injury so I assume so. But I agree, Cousins, Jefferson and Cook really shouldn't have played yesterday. But I get they didn't want last week's game to linger for 2 weeks and the new O-line needed some time together with the 1st team offense. At least Cook got a fumble out of his system. Maybe he can make it through the play-offs without one now.

By "edge" I would give the Lions a 35% chance to win the North, the Vikes about 30%, same as the Packers. By no means do I think Detroit taking over is a lay-up.

Comparing Goff to Cousins I think is a virtual draw. These rankings support that. Both are functional.

The only real upside of this season/situation for the Cardinals is that it likely results in them moving on from Keim as GM. He just had/has to go. He survived this long somehow, who knows; I'm sure having brought in Bruce Arians and Carson Palmer and having a good little run there likely extended his job security but the Cardinals have drafted absolutely horrendously during most of his tenure.
I watched a bit of the team for the first time, hoping they would pull of the miracle of beating the 49ers. A smart team would trade for Isiah Simmons; that kid was everywhere
