Wow: Kirk Ciarrocca Takes OC Job at Rutgers

Or, find a way to fabricate complaints about beating Wisconsin with 319 passing yards.

:sneaky:
Not a single person has complained about that game
And here you are accusing others of fabricating

If PJ and Schiano have such a great relationship, is it at all possible that Schiano spoke with PJ prior to hiring Kirk?

The vitriol by some of you towards Kirk is almost comical. A guy gets hired by someone he used to work with, closer to home, for reportedly significantly more money and he is what? Supposed to say no? Please.
There's no reason it should be about $$. It's Rutgers not Michigan.

Maybe PJ has too much influence and doesn't allow him creativity? Perhaps PJ overruled plays in some of these games (Purdue/Iowa etc.) and he thought that might change when he came back this go round, but it didn't?

Seems like it has to be something like this for him to leave AGAIN!
He's been with PJ for many years at two schools over 3 stops. He knows what job he signed up for. There's no way to excuse this or make it pass the smell test.

I don’t know what would be better for the board:

Option 1: Simon gets the job and his fanboys finally shut up about him

Or

Option 2: Simon doesn’t get the job and it’s a total meltdown

Both would be nice in very different ways.
Did Simon cut you off in rush hour or something? Lol we get it you don't like him

Who does not love the Rossi hire?

Go ahead. This is your chance. Let’s have it.

Everyone loves the Rossi hire now.
I assumed you were making the comparison to when he was hired.

I don’t remember how I felt about it at the time.
I do remember I didn’t think you necessarily had to fire the other guy mid season because I didn’t think it’d make a difference. I was wrong and that’s what got Rossi the job and I was okay with it. I don’t remember “loving it” at the time. But it made a lot of sense.

Rossi only became the LB coach once he was assigned as the Defensive Coordinator. He was the D-line coach until then. The link you posted looks like the staff at the end of the 2018 season, after Smith's firing.
OK thanks. (I was wondering if there was something messed up with that link)

Let me therefore completely and entirely change the logic of my argument.

those who hold the passing game against Simon:

Did you hold the very poor play of the DL in 2018 against Rossi, before Robb Smith was fired and Rossi hired?

Was the DL playing poorly in 2018?
I remember it mostly being in the back end issue and big plays.

Yes, I do hold bad play against the coaches in answer to your question.

So it wasnt necessary and wouldnt make a difference, but it made a lot of sense.....im confused

Quite honestly, I don't care at all that he's leaving. I never thought he was a difference maker and/or the reason why 2019 was so special.

Frankly I think we know the reason why that year was so special and it was the seniors and the receivers that made it the year it was.

Good riddance and bring on someone that's more creative as I didn't think he was creative but gave him the benefit of the doubt due to him coming back and PJ wanting him back. This offense never showed any creativity and ran the same plays constantly so let's find someone creative!

I was wrong. It did make a difference
And since it made a difference Rossi kind of won the job regardless of what happened before it. It made a lot of sense to remove the interim tag.

It’s all interconnected and we mere Internet rubes are trying to analyze things without much behind the scenes info.

It’s a tough gig. I admit that I’ve been wrong more than right.

It might just be time to move on. I mean how many firsts at one school does a guy have to be part of before he needs a new challenge? 🤷‍♂️

I don't think it's the end of the world. But losing your OC to a lateral move to a worse program isn't a good look. And this many staff losses in one cycle is problematic.

I’m going with:

Burns - got opportunity to be a HC from a RB coach, easy yes
Haynes - worked with Fickell 2005-2011, good relationship with him
DL coach to Purdue - apparently mutual agreement to part ways
Kirk C - (family?) wants to get back East where they’re from, only came back to MN to get out of a rut

Just bad timing/luck that these all stacked up

Hey Kirk C, don't let the door hit you where the good lord split ya. No backsies this time. Hit the road jack, don't ya come back no more no more no more....no more.

We lost Harasymiak, Patterson and Wilt last year (I guess you could count Sanford as a fourth). We did just fine this year without them.
There you go. Lost OC and three assistants after 2021 as well. One of which went to go be the DC at Rutgers.

We’ll be fine. IF they hire Simon as OC.

Tanner as QB coach?? Probably not.

What I am hearing:
Ciarrocca primary leaving for money and the move came as a surprise.
OC will be an internal hire due to lesson learned with Sanford and fear of losing Athan (he has NFL potential).
Other hires coming after coaches convention.

The part we don't know and tends to get overlooked is whether or not Simon actually wants to be an OC. It gets said that Fleck passed on him but I don't know that it was ever confirmed he was even a candidate.

Not every position coach wants to be a coordinator. Not every coordinator wants to be a head coach. I have no clue what Simon truly wants but none of us truly knows if he even wants to be the primary OC.

I hope the lesson isn't "Don't hire external co-ordinators" but "have a guy in mind, but if he's not available, have a backup on staff to promote"

If it's an internal hire I have to imagine Simon is getting the nod, meaning finding a dedicated QB coach. Especially with the mention of AK, if Simon is passing game co-ordinator I assume he has some rapport with AK and would help keep AK if promoted. Now if AK transfered to Rutgers to follow Kirk I think I would lose it!

Athan still seems bought in for now:

I'm assuming the team hears things fast than us in a lot of cases. Coaching staff has probably already talked with Athan about it.
