SOUND OFF! Post-Game Thread: Gophers Lose Heartbreaker to Hawkeyes, Again, Fleck Remains Winless vs Iowa.

Who is that running back that came in at the end of the Northwestern game? He gives me hope for next year. I assume he will fumble at the 8 yard line of a 13-10 game at Iowa next year to break all of our hearts again.

Fleck would like to be a run-first, ball control, solid defensive team. I'd just like to be a team that wins more games. Don't care how it's done.

I don’t think PJ will ever get it done here. 7-8 wins will be the norm,
thing is, I’m OK if the Gophers just average 7-8 wins per year, but they need to do it while employing more than a 19the century offensive gameplan. If not, we will never be able to recruit good QBs and good WRs, and with it no opportunity to take the next step, and you also lose games like this that are way more than winnable because of it.

To be honest, I didn’t ever believe we would see Jerry Kill football again after 2019, where finally employing a balanced offense took the team to big heights. and yet, PJ has made this team into Jerry Kill #2. There are almost no notable differences between this team and, say, the 2015 team. It’s as if this program is stuck in rerun mode.

Evans, where was he today? Only dynamic guy on offense.

With that mindset we'll continue to have issues recruiting the WR position.

Plus not all 7-8 win seasons are created equally. This year was set up for 10 wins. Next year is set up for 5 wins.

I think PJ leaves for a program considered down but usually on par with Minnesota program.

Yes he had a nice burst. Next year they will have Bell back and I think Aithan is good if they let him do stuff. I can’t even tell if our other wideouts are any good anymore.

You know, I could stomach 7-8 win seasons on average if we were beating Iowa and Wisconsin to get those 7-8 wins. Losing to Iowa the way Fleck has is unacceptable. Sorry, but it is.

And yet people were happy with this number under Killl/Claeys
The idea is to get better...Kill/Claeys did that. AND so has PJ but he can't beat Iowa and we are worse next year...take away the gifted extra year guys and who is wow? Not recruiting any playmakers.

He's an Oldsmobile in Ferrari clothing.
I used to call him PJ Brewster...which may have been a bit harsh. We've seen his ceiling...and this is it. Are we content with this as the programs ceiling? I'm not...keep swing until you hit a homerun...PJ is a double at best.

Talk about finding a way to lose. Now I know how Nebraska fans feel about every week. This was inexcusable. And it happens every time against Iowa, dominate the game and lose.

Gutless.

You can't be elite playing scared.

Pretty fucking awful coaching.
Typical p j get conservative thinks he can control the game that way gets behind opens up offense gets it tied then gets conservative again

I've been a Fleck defender, but I've about had enough. His massive fear of making mistakes in big games leads to being overly conservative => which leads to leaving no margin for error or playing from behind => which leads to the inevitable mistakes, even if only one or two, costing them the game. It's happened over and over and over and over again. It's getting old. The man needs to live his own motto and "change his best", and should have done that long ago.

It's a shame that your parents were pro-life and weren't willing to do the right thing.
That’s funny. I actually think we would like each other. Sorry I took a shot at your guy. Keep defending Fleck tho he’s a very innovative offensive mind.

What was the point in hiring Ciarrocca again? The regression of the offense between the MSU game and now was astounding.
It is simply ASTOUNDING to me that our offensive minds did not introduce ONE SINGLE WRINKLE to the offensive game plan for Iowa. Not one! We have had weeks to prepare for this defense which we knew was going to be tough. We did nothing more than what we do every week.

After Georgia beat the brakes off Tennessee and shut down their vaunted offense, Kirby Smart said that 3 weeks ago he told Will Muschamp to lock himself in a office and do nothing but game plan Tennessee. PJ should have had KC or and assistant do the same thing for the best defense in the league. Instead, they did NOTHING. I know you have some limitations with AK8 due to his inexperience, but you can’t curl up in the fetal position because of that inexperience. To recycle the exact same game plan you have trotted out there for 10 weeks is poor coaching, plain and simple. It played right into Iowa’s hands and they knew that is what PJ would do. They seen it year after year.

This. The #1 thing you cannot, I repeat, CANNOT do, is turn the ball over against Iowa, especially when you’re in scoring position.
Exactly. Weird things happen in a tight game, and if they don't happen in your favor, stats don't matter.

The worse thing is iowa is a bad team and to lose to them at home is pathetic now I have to put up with the squawkeye fans tell me how great their team is as they are as ignorant and brainwashed as a trump cult maga maggot

I suppose PJ is ultimately responsible for the OC and DC calls. So I think all the blame falls on him for the offense running the same crap every game. And in this game how could our DC NOT have double coverage on Iowa’s tight end? He has 85% of their pass catching yardage for the year. Just poor game management on both sides.
