Well, if you bet that Augsburg and Carleton would be the only undefeated teams after three weeks, you probably cashed in some nice winnings. Auggies' last .500 season was 2015; last winning season was 2012. from what I've seen, defense is showing some improvement.
 

I would love to see the Gustavus/Bethel game. If the Gophers were on the road, in a night game, I'd make the drive down to St. Peter.

Bethel now gunning for the championship and auto-bid. The only road bumps left might be Concordia and/or Carleton, but doubtful. A bit of a surprise is that Carleton is in the mix for the "next best" with the Gusties. They probably don't have the juice to knock off Bethel or St. Johns, but that's why they play the games! Carleton had some decent teams in the 1980s early 1990s but then fell on hard times.
 


Big Gustavus rally fell three points short against Bethel. Lots of what ifs tied to both GAC losses this season.

St. John’s looks as though it had a tougher time than Gustavus had with Concordia and they have already lost to Bethel.

Bethel is actually 3-1, 2-0. They lost at Wisc.-Plateville their second game of the season. Not sure how that happened.

When Hardin-Simmons monkey stomped Platteville, I assumed Bethel must be having a down year. Obviously not the case.

Yep, not sure what happened. All I know is that Bethel athletics have really taken a step these last few years. They have multiple programs that are becoming fixtures in the national rankings...

Their starting QB Jaren Roste didn’t play. Dislocated elbow non throwing arm. He was back vs St. John’s and Gustavus.
Bethel was up big at the half at Gustavus but the Gustie D and O figured some things out at the half and made a game of it. Had the ball with under 3 left but just missed on two long pass plays that could have led to a go ahead TD.

All the MIAC games next weekend are probably shellackings with the exception of Carleton vs St. Olaf. Northfield will be rocking.

Does Carleton fill up the Laird Stadium 7,500 capacity when playing Northfield? That place has always been pretty cool/historic, but it was a total dump back in the day.

No. Even solid crowds, and there were many in the early to mid 90s, would get 5,000 so plenty of good seats.

From my memory, biggest crowd was in 2008, season finale vs St Johns with the MIAC Championship on the line. Had a really good pop up season.

6000 fans that day according to the Box Score.

Legend is the only time it was ever above capacity, Ike came to town.

The most wild D2 or D3 game I have been to was St Thomas @ St Johns. I swear it was like 20k. People lined the track 4-5 deep. Was a gong show to get in and out. If you’ve been to a game there you understand how insane that attendance is.

Yeah, the good folks up in Johnnieville know how to make an event of a football game. There's no shortage of tailgating and beer on the roads leading to the stadium and the tree-lined bowl makes a nice setting this time of year. That is, until the team you're rooting for gets beaten down.

The biggest game of the last weekend was Augustana battling Sioux Falls in the cross-town rivalry. Sioux Falls built a huge lead, but Augustana mounted a comeback effort. It fell short, though.

The same was the case for my Dragons on the road against UMD. MSU tried mounting a comeback, but Duluth was able to stay ahead. Dragons are having a rough season, now 1-4.

Given that Bethel's QB didn't play at the weird Platteville loss, and then they beat St. John's head-to-head, it's hard to understand how the pollsters still rank St. John's at #6 and Bethel at #11. The people at D3football.com are usually more knowledgeable than this.

It's pretty easy to understand: St. John's beat Whitewater, Whitewater beat the defending champ Mary Hardin-Baylor, Bethel lost to unranked 1-3 Platteville.

St. John’s 45, Augsburg 0: Johnnies quarterback Aaron Syverson completed 18 of 30 passes for 214 yards and two TDs, and he ran for 78 yards and another TD on five carries in a shutout victory over the Auggies in Minneapolis.

Bethel 49, Hamline 14: The Royals beat the visiting Pipers for the 26th year in a row. Hamline, which won 32 of the first 41 meetings in this series, last won in 1996. The score was 31-9.

Concordia-Moorhead 36, Macalester 7: The Cobbers found a way to contain the Scots’ high-powered offense, limiting Macalester to 236 total yards in Moorhead, Minn. The Scots produced at least 400 yards offense in each of their first four games this season. Concordia finished with a 17-minute advantage in time of possession.

Gustavus Adolphus 77, St. Scholastica 7: George Sandven threw four TD passes, and the Gusties exploded for 40 points in the second quarter to take a 61-0 halftime lead at Hollingsworth Field in St. Peter, Minn.

Wis.-La Crosse 41, Wis.-Stout 21: Keyser Helterbrand rushed for 182 yards and two TDs on 14 carries, and Aaron Schmitz intercepted a Sean Borgerding pass and returned it 95 yards for a score in Menomonie, Wis. Borgerding threw for 295 yards for the Blue Devils but had four passes intercepted.

North Dakota State 31, Indiana State 26: TaMerik Williams rushed for a career-high 145 yards and three TDs as the Bison, ranked No. 1 in FCS, rallied to beat the Sycamores in Terre Haute, Ind. Indiana State led 13-10 at halftime and 20-17 in the third quarter before Williams ran for two third-quarter TDs.

Bemidji State 44, Concordia-St. Paul 0: Golden Bears linebacker Andrew Egnarski had 19 tackles, one shy of a school record, but the Beavers rolled up 552 yards and 35 first downs to win easily in Bemidji, Minn., and keep Concordia winless for the season.

Wayne State 41, Minn. State Mankato 33: Hayden Ekern threw for 266 yards and three TDs, and the Wildcats jumped to a 27-3 early in the second quarter before having to hold off the Mavericks in Wayne, Neb., improving their record to 5-1.

Sioux Falls 35, SW Minnesota State 14: The Cougars, ranked 17th in Division II, scored 28 points in the first quarter to beat the Mustangs in Sioux Falls, S.D., and remain the only unbeaten team left in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. After Southwest Minnesota State quarterback Justus McComb suffered a first-quarter injury, John Romero replaced him and completed 11 of 16 passes.

Minnesota Moorhead 36, Minot State 14: Freshman quarterback Jack Strand was 38 of 50 passing for 383 yards and two TD, and receiver Ryan Bieberdorf had 12 catches for 198 yards and a TD for the Dragons in Moorhead, Minn.
